I usually eat in, but decided to get takeaway today and went for the mixed steak on rice with salad and sauce. The food was still warm by the time I got home after a 30-minute journey, which I really appreciated. The rice had a slightly sweet flavour that I actually enjoyed on its ownāreally tasty even without anything on top. The chicken was full of flavour, and all the meat was cooked perfectlyānot tough or chewy at all.
The only downside was the salad, which was just lettuceāI was hoping for a bit more variety, maybe some onions or tomatoes. Also, I found it odd that the food was placed in the lid of the container rather than the base. Itās something a lot of places used to do, but with how generous the portions are, it wouldāve made more sense to serve it the right way up.
That said, Barakat Grill still gets a full 5 stars from me. Iāve made the 30-minute trip at least 10 times, and theyāve never let me down. Their chicken karahi and lamb karahi are both absolutely spot onāpacked with flavour and always cooked just right. And I have to say, Barakatās sauces are honestly some of the best around. Itās hands down my go-to spot in Bolton, and Iāll keep...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went in on Wednesday evening at around 8pm where It was fairly busy. I ordered 2 chicken and chips and one steak and chips. The chicken and chips were priced at Ā£7.50 each and steak and chips Ā£9.50 each. Staff were nice and friendly however the food was awful which is a shame as I had previously dined in and the food was great. The chicken and chips was very curry like and was swimming in oil. The steak and chips tasted horrible as though it was off. There was no seasoning whatsoever. To top it all off the portion sizes werenāt exactly worth what I paid for. I was very disappointed with the meal as I had spent Ā£28.50 and I felt robbed for what I had received. I hate to say this but I probably wonāt be eating from here again and advise those who want a steak and chips/chicken and chips takeout that there are better alternatives nearby. Iāve attached a photo showing how much oil was in the tray even after I drained the oil before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my first review i have ever written. I dont usually leave reviews even if food is sub standard. On this occassion i feel compelled to write this review so others can be well informed. As I feel oppressed parting with my money at this establishment. The chicken tandoori masala was like boiled chicken mixed with a ready made patak curry sauce. Food was cold. Chicken and steak was very rubbery and tasteless and chewy. The naan bread was under cooked. Special sauce on steak was like watered down ketchup. Guy on counter made it sound like a Michelin star restaurant when in reality it was very bad experience especially during these economic times. I have travelled 100 miles from Birmingham as this place was recommended. I'm travelling back home with a rumbling stomach . All 3 of us in a bad way and need some mints to remove the flavour. Avoid at...
