THE McD's near Sainsburys in West Houghton HAS to be the worst McD's I've ever tried to use. We ordered two white coffees. Ok, admittedly a difficult order, because one was medium & one was large. But a quiet McD's with at least 8 staff on duty SHOULD be capable of dealing with that order. Not this bunch of useless parts which barely manage to become 1 useless whole.
After ten minutes of waiting I asked for a refund. The girl on the counter needed that bit explaining slowly. She got her line manager who asked her what was up, then asked me, & then asked a second time. Some seriously slow talking was needed but I managed to get the message understood in the end.
So they were rushed off their feet.. because a guy was waiting for a "just eat" order of two entire medium sized paper bags, so huge an order in fact he hadn't even bothered bringing his "just eat" bag in with him. Plus there was, at one point, a car waiting in the drive through lane. Then with no warning of the stampede about to hit them another customer placed an order. Tough times indeed for this slightly lacking shift.
Three customers inside AND a drive through car. All at the same time. no wonder they couldn't cope. Patrick & Bob would have coped easily with a queue four or five times as large, but alas, this lot aren't cartoons, they're merely useless.
Fortunately for everyone involved I doubt any of these people will ever be required to do any truly stressful work because god help the planet if they become emergency workers, join the armed services or have to cross a road without someone helping them.
Middlebrook stadium has a McD's and theres one in Walkden. use either of those alternatives if possible cos this place is pathetic. Theres the one in Swinton who's staff can definitely cope with stress. All of which are preferable to West Houghton's interpretation of the flintstones.
And no, I'm not knocking McD's staff. I used to be one. I know what a busy McD's looks n sounds like. & I know how long it takes to pull a coffee machine, clean it, reassemble it n get it back online, so the excuse of "the coffee machine broke down" from mr line manager is a non starter. McD's without coffee for more than 5 minutes is insane.
Seriously, go elsewhere. Anyplace but here. Hell, go to KFC fgs, It'l still be a better McD experience...

ALWAYS CHECK THEY HAVE PACKED ALL YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU DRIVE AWAY. I don't know what it is with this branch but they always seem to forget something which is so frustrating. Tonight for example, we ordered a quarter pounder with medium fries, a wrap of the day and a mcCrispy burger via the app. Picked it up, got home and unpacked everything and this time they had forgotten the fries. Only a small item I know but that's not the point. If it was a one off we would have just left it like we have always done in the past but then why should they get away with providing this poor level of service time and time again? If it's happened to us as often as it has, I'm pretty certain we can't be the only ones. This time I decided enough was enough and I wanted to get what I had paid for so drove back to the DRIVE-THRU. I explained the issue to the staff and asked for the fries along with a free burger as a gesture of goodwill for the hassle caused. I got the fries, they did not agree to a burger. So basically, if they do something wrong and forget to pack part of an order you will be expected to travel all the way back, leaving the rest of your family to enjoy their meal just to get what you had paid for in the first place. They need to have better quality control to prevent this as it's so frustrating. Once fair enough but every other time is ridiculous. If the area manager is reading this please take this feedback onboard and...
Read moreI hate leaving negative reviews, I really do but sometimes the service is so appalling at a place that you feel you really need to warn people. This is an absolutely shocking place at getting orders right. They ALWAYS miss something, usually condiments. They ask you what sauces you want but then fail to provide them. Why bother asking then? This is food that you wouldn't order if you knew it wouldn't be coming with condiments. When you bring it to their attention that condiments are missing, no-one cares. This is both the drive through and ordering online. You're then left with food you can't eat. I worked in hospitality most of my working life and I honestly can't see what is hard about honoring a complete order. It's not difficult to chuck a few sauces (that you have ordered) in a bag is it? I genuinely don't understand, it's not like you're asking for them out of their own personal stash. To be fair to them, if its food thats missing then you do get a refund but it doesn't change the fact that they can never get an order right. When going through the drive through, I now travel miles out of my way to go to another mcdonalds but when you order online for delivery, you don't get a choice. If you did then I wouldn't ever...
