As we arrived earlier than expected we had a walk around the town to look for a coffee shop. There were a few in close proximity to each other, with one large coffee where the clientele seemed to be of the senior age group, I think the youngest person I spotted must have had one leg already in a coffin! So, we picked this smaller establishment, which from the outside it was hard to tell if it was a coffee shop or a sauna the windows were that steamed up. Once the door was opened my fears were put to rest as I didn't see any sign of naked old fat me sitting down with only a towel to hide their modesty. Having said that, on looking at who were using this coffee shop I had wondered if it was a drop-in centre for the homeless, but it wasn't, it was just some scruffy northerners having their breakfast. Although a small shop it can accommodate quite a lot of people, and we were a group of 9. Teas/coffees were ordered and duly delivered quite quickly. Read moreThis little gem is potentially one of the best places in Barnoldswick for a 'brew and a buttie' or a bite to eat. It's not in the slightest but pretentious, it's a simple, but tasteful cafe that sticks to the basics. Good food, coffee, cakes and always a service with a smile.
Sitting in here for about an hour and you get a real sense of community.
People come in and out, the owners seem to know people and their orders, preempting their needs and taking time to actually sit and talk to their customers. Additionally, everybody seems to know everybody, which helps create the charming atmosphere at busy times.
During the summer they utilise the communal tables and chairs on the square and operate table service as well as takeout.
