Finally; we have a decent Indian restaurant here in Staines; shame it is not bigger in size!
Came here with friends yesterday for dinner and none of us were disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed the 'Fish Fry' for starter with coriander, ginger and a mint dip. The fish was boneless and succulent and the flavours were incredible. This was followed by the 'Railway Goat Curry' with pilau rice. The goat was soft and melted in my mouth; the sauce was delicious and again bursting with amazing flavours!
Bombay Naka had a great atmosphere; you could see that everyone was truly loving their food. It felt relaxed and the staff were attentive and very knowledgeable about the dishes which really made a difference. I loved the coloured bunting intertwined with the fairy lights that were strewn across the restaurant; it had the feel of a street market; but, also the cosiness of an intimate restaurant.
The only negative point and (this is the reason that I've only given it only four stars) was that the tables were too small and close together. Fortunately for us; additional diners did not arrive and sit at the table to our left; had this occurred; the four of us would've felt too hemmed in and cramped. As, it was, where we sat, the walkway was quite narrow behind our table so we constantly had the waiting staff, and diners walk back and fourth to get to the kitchen or the toilets.
I will return to this restaurant again; but, would request to sit at the other end where it is less cramped.
Thank you Bombay Naka - for a truly authentic...
Read moreWe were really excited to try this new restaurant offering Indian street food. It was busy when we arrived and it took a little while to get seated and be given menus but we didn't mind that as it's only been open a couple of days and there are bound to be a few teething problems. When I phoned to book the table I explained that I was vegan and was assured that there were plenty of vegan options. The reason we had to wait for the menu was because they were busy printing off a menu especially for me with vegan dishes clearly marked - I really appreciated that. We ordered pani poori and ragda patice to start. The pani poori was delicious and the pani had a nice kick to it. Unfortunately the ragda patice came with a yoghurt dressing (not mentioned on the menu) so we had to wait a while for the chef to prepare another yoghurt-free version. When it came it was worth the wait! For mains we ordered a masala dosa and a portion of idli with sambar and coconut chutney. The dosa was okay, the potato filling was a bit bland, and I've had better idlis. The sambar and chutney was really tasty but I probably wouldn't order these dishes again. We also ordered a portion of dhal with a couple of rotis. This for me was the stand out dish! Deliciously spiced and smooth dhal with piping hot roti. I'll happily go back and order that again, and try some of the other vegan dishes on the menu. Service was a little slow but the servers & manager were friendly and welcoming. There were a lot of Asian families eating in there and the vibe was...
Read moreWe recently visited Mumbai Nnakka, a restaurant inspired by Mumbai-style street food, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience! The menu truly captures the essence of Mumbai’s vibrant flavors with a touch of authenticity and comfort.
We tried quite a few items — • Chole Bhature (4/5): Not the Delhi-style version, but still very flavorful with well-balanced spices and soft bhature. • Vada Pav (4/5): Nicely spiced and nostalgic — just the right amount of chutney and crunch. • Aloo Tikki (4.5/5): Could’ve been a bit crisper, but taste-wise, it was excellent and full of flavor. • Chilli Paneer (5/5): Absolutely perfect — fresh, spicy, and full of Mumbai-style zing. • Bombay Sandwich (4/5): Nicely toasted with the authentic Mumbai sandwich masala flavor. • Coffee (5/5): A special mention — it’s that classic “wedding-style” coffee you often get at Indian weddings, rich, frothy, and perfectly sweet. A must-try!
The service was quick, the portions were generous, and the overall vibe was casual yet welcoming — just what you’d expect from a place that celebrates Mumbai street food culture.
We’ll surely be visiting again to explore their mains and a few other dishes. Mumbai Nnakka is definitely worth a visit if you’re craving authentic Mumbai flavors served with great...
