To all my Caribbean peeps and to all lovers of Jamaican food. Amazing Grace Caribbean by Chef Warren is THE spot to go to in Sittingbourne. My husband and I wanted to eat some Jamaican food and we decided to do a search online of any nearest spots near us. We drove from Ashford (about 45 mins away) to check it out. Lo behold we were greeted by Mr. Warren who was very pleasant to speak with. I ordered the curry goat, oxtail, festival, and a lamb patty. My husband ordered the curry chicken, jerk chicken, mac and cheese, and chicken patty. Since the rice is separate, we ordered 2 rice and peas and a white rice, and a cole slaw. Let me start off with the meats...anyone knows authentic curry chicken is not only flavorful but its tender and has potatoes in it. This dish is curry heaven. Nuff said about the goat. It was so tender it seemed like he cooked it in a crock pot on low simmer. The oxtail had to be THE BEST oxtail I've tasted in a while...and the added dumpling is def a nice vibe. If you've never had festivals, you must try them at Amazing Grace. These were perfectly golden crisp with a soft center and a slight sugary taste...almost felt like a donut. The cole slaw was delicious...the added grapes is different but adds a new dimension to the slaw. He even gave us a complimentary order of the slaw as well as festivals...so glad he did because my husband and I finished 1 order on our way home. Last but not least the fried chicken. Originally I wanted to try the wings but he mentioned he was out and I was so looking forward to tasting wings...but then he suggested the fried chicken (boneless dark meat). I don't usually order fried chicken from Caribbean restaurants but when he told me that he takes the dark meat, takes out the bone, slice it down the middle and fries it, I was sold. The aroma of the chicken was so good that I had to taste it before getting home. The chicken was nicely fried, golden crisp and the flavors on that chicken. Priceless. You can tell it was well marinated. I am not much of a fan of rice and peas but this place has the authentic rice and peas, it's nice and grainy not mushy, it has a nice flavor of coconut milk and the rice is light and fluffy. If I could give this place 10 Stars, I would.
Cost 2 rice and peas, 1 whjte rice, mac and cheese, oxtail, curry chixken, curry goat, jerk chicken, oxgail, 2 patties, 2 plantains, festivals = £65. Oh and while we waited for our food, he gave us 2 complimentary Fanta sodas. That was a lot of food and now we have some leftovers for tomorrow.
Big ups Amazing Grace and Chef Warren. You did your ting'. We surely will be back. You're now our new fave Jamaican...
Read moreInitially I looked at this online. But I couldn’t decide what I wanted. So I drove there; hidden behind the bar is a little shack and I was instantly greeted with warmth, I couldn’t decide what I wanted but was told it was £8 only for chicken dishes all week! I would have preferred the curry chicken but they had chicken stew which I had never tried before so I gave it a go. When I tell you I didn’t even wait until I was home because it smelt so good, the portion was massive. The plaintan he cooked fresh for me and I got a complimentary coleslaw for my first order! The food is absolutely insane for the price and I will be back all week trying the jerk chicken and the curry chicken!!! Honestly the best Caribbean food I have ever eaten. I am currently still in my car eating it and I have a feeling I’ll have left overs because the portion is so big!! 10/10 will be back tomorrow. (And all week) the chicken is so well cooked and soft it falls apart when you pick it up! May even have to try the...
Read moreWow, what a magical find. The owner is a genuinely nice soul, I joked that the service was too pleasant to be authenticly Carribean. I could of returned for the service alone, but let's face it if the food wasn't up to scratch I wouldn't be back. This I can confirm is top notch and authentic, freshly prepared, you could taste the love in each spoonful. If you call ahead he will even prepare hard food if that's your thing. He did a lovely twist with the coleslaw with grapes, I can see he's a foodie. It's a catch 22 writing this review as I'm only going to have to queue longer once everyone finds out about this little gem, but as I said he really seems like a nice individual so he...
