Cube Bar Kitchen — Restaurant in Borough of Wyre

This place isn’t what it used to be. I’m sorry to say that The Cube has had its day.

I’ve been coming here for almost 20 years and it used to be THE place to go with great food, cocktails, prices, curly fries and friendly staff. But after my latest experience I won’t be returning.

Two issues; • The staff. All the menus state that you can order via table service or the app. After using the app a few times, we asked if we could order with a waitress, and her attitude was appalling - she told us they were too busy and that it was a big problem and to do so would be doing us a favour. We should have left then!! • The cocktails. We ordered piña coladas and Long Island iced teas. As you can see from my review history, I’m partial to a cocktail and am a mixologist in my own time. What we were served was very poor quality. They all tasted terrible and badly made. We asked to return them all and was told ‘no, they’re perfectly made to our recipe and everyone loves them’. Spending £40 on a round of cocktails on a Thursday afternoon you expect a decent standard. The manager’s attitude was just as bad as the waitresses. We had the cocktails replaced with rum and cokes as no refund was in sight.

I have so many happy memories of The Cube from fantastic lunches to family celebrations and nights out and often look forward to returning, but this was terrible. And, to top it off, NO CURLY FRIES on the menu anymore which were my fav.

Having been many times before I visited at lunchtime today with a friend. We sat outside. After we’d ordered we waited so long that we were just about to go in and see what was going on when our meals appeared. The waitress was very friendly and the meals looked good. Then my friend discovered that her Chilli Cheese Loaded Nachos were cold and soggy. She returned it to the bar and asked for it to be heated up. The staff said they would do her a new one. Meanwhile, I’d started on my Buddha Bowl. I attempted to eat a chickpea (apparently roasted) but it was hard and unpleasant, so I decided to leave the rest of them. Digging down under a mound of lukewarm rice I found the spinach, which I normally love. Unfortunately there were so many stalks that again it was inedible. I love my food and rarely leave anything but this meal was really not very pleasant and I left a good half of it. Due to my friend’s meal having to be made twice we were given two complimentary coffees. The waitress was very apologetic and said the chickpeas might have been left in the oven too long. I refuse to be untreated fairly, upon entering this establishment I was treated with cronyism and nepotism a barman who worked at the establishment who was served 10 minutes before me ( 15 minutes after I was) upon telling the bar man that how I was treated (unfairly and with unjustice) was simply unfair I was treated to a security escort off the premises and a response from the security personnel and the police which was far less than unsatisfactory and ruined my best friends 18 th birthday party - cube was irresponsible and frankly racist in their response treating me like a second class citizen I frankly find their response appalling and hope that the members involved will be sacked - I’m sick and tired off corruption and am sick and tired of members of a staff treating me as though I am worthless through cronyism - it’s disgusting and in a 21st century country I think we should be...
