On my most recent visit on 30 August, the service was very efficient, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The interior of New Penny is lovely, having had a full refit a couple of years ago. The seats are comfy and there is lots of space on the tables. There are lots of savoury and sweet options on the menu, I had the banana split with mint choc chip and rum and raisin. The ice cream is made by New Penny and you can tell this as the ice cream is smooth and of a high quality. The dessert met expectations but I thought the portion sizes could have been slightly bigger given the cost. I think the prices are quite high looking at comparisons with other local firms such as Wallings (and I say that as someone who lives very close to Central London and is used to paying a premium). However, I understand this given the high cost of milk and dairy products at the moment. I have previously had the ice creams to take away and these are also very nice, at 2.85 with a flake they make for a worthy occasional treat. You get a wide choice of flavours (normally around 15). Portions for take-out are more generous.

Most noted for their ice cream, New Penny in Poulton now do Greek by night Wed - Sat. We enjoyed the mini meze - served up until 6.30pm. Great value at £17.95 each. With Greek salad, dips, meat balls and calamari for starters. The sumptuous main course was a choice of chicken kebab, moussaka or the signature Kleftico; a delicious slow-roasted lamb shank that just fell off the bone. More than enough for both of us, although there's plenty more choice for those with bigger appetites. Credit to everyone. The team were great, loved everything particularly the music. I ordered a potatoe rosti for breakfast with bacon and poached eggs. The rosti was virtually inedible as it was burnt it looked like it had been precooked and reheated. The bacon was also overdone. The only saving grace was the poached egg. There was only one other customer in the premises at 9.30 so no atmosphere. For two people with coffee cost was £21. Not a good experience although the service was pleasant.

Quite honestly disgusted. I visited today in the afternoon and it was very busy. This doesn't bother me apart from the fact that there is no space to queue so we end up blocking the paths. While queuing the person in front of us asked for raspberry and strawberry sorbet in a tub. The server only gives them raspberry and when she is corrected she scoops some raspberry out and places it back into it's original container despite it being handled. We also saw the lady drop a scoop of ice cream into a different container before scooping it back up and handing it to a customer. What if the customer had been allergic to the other ice cream that his had come into contact with? When it came to our turn we witnessed the fact that the server did not clean the scoops between each flavor. Does the shop not know about cross contamination?

Overall the service was lack luster and the hygiene appalling. I am aware they're understaffed but really they should provide a better experience...

First time in New Penny, we have heard a lot of good comments from friends and neighbours. We met there with the sister in law and another friend, who lives in Poulton. We arrived there just before midday, reading through the breakfast menu, (serviced until midday!!!), several options hit our tasting buds! 😋 We were very fortunate that our lovely waiter told us we could still order from it!! Amazing 🤩 (Sorry I didn't get his name, but he is a very competent and friendly person, he is rather tall 😊) Four different choices, four very happy and satisfied customers left the premises, with a promise to return asap!! Food was filling, not over crowded, not noisy, however, for me it was the fact that the staff left us chatter to our hearts content without interrupting, that makes the New Penny the place to meet with friends when in Poulton Le Fylde. Brilliant service...
