The Bourne Arms Sunday lunch is everything good (and indeed excellent) that has been described in these reviews, if not even better! Try to book a table by the window (we had table 20) in the dining room up the half-staircase. While enjoying the food you have a view out over the extensive reaches of Morecambe Bay with Heysham in the foreground (perhaps with the Isle of Man ferry coming or going) and the sweep of the Lake District mountains in the background. To see the detail, including the bird life, powerful binoculars are waiting ready on the window sill! Our photograph goes nowhere near capturing the grandeur of this setting.

Fantastic service could not fault! My youngest ordered tomato pasta off the kids menu, but when it came it was a cream and arrabiata sauce which was too spicy for her so they happily swapped her meal. Lovely gluten free meals with plenty of choice. We had battered halloumi and chicken goujons to start which was freshly battered chicken- yummy! Unfortunately they had no gluten free pasta available and the liver and onions was unavailable so it limited our options on the day we visited. Definitely worth a visit but I would call in advance if you require gluten free!

Lovely environment for a village pub/restaurant. We were seated at the "Sea View" which had lovely historic decoration and a fantastic view of the River Wyre between the lake district and Heysham Power Station. The food was to die for as we had their Sunday Lunch, Lamb was cooked to perfection, tasty gravy and a fantastic selection of veg. There starters were also mouth watering. There is also a massive range of drinks to choose from. Overall, can be a little pricey but the experience is very much worth it. Menu is quite restricted.

Great to see that the upstairs dining room with the fabulous views has been redecorated and is pleasantly comfortable. We were shown to a table for two which was in a perfect position to enjoy the last of the daylight. Surprisingly none of the young waitresses were wearing masks but other than that the COVID precautions seemed to be being followed. My starter of chicken goujons was tasty enough but was not the Cajun chicken that I had ordered. When I mentioned this , the waitress admitted that it had been wrongly written on the order slip. My husbands main course of fish and chips was disappointing as the batter on the fish was more of a thick ‘jacket’ than a batter coating. It was however a huge fish and the chips were good. The home made tarter sauce was delicious. I had salmon which was dry and some vegetables, cauliflower and carrots which were also dry. This was very disappointing as the last time we ate here I also had salmon and it came with a lovely cream and dill sauce. It would definitely have benefitted from a moist vegetable such as ratatouille or a the very least a pat of butter. There was a special offer which gave a free round of drinks if you ordered two courses. This made the...

Unfortunately our visit coincided with foul weather so the panoramic sea view was not at its best. The well appointed Bourne Arms is clean and comfortable. Staff are attentive and efficient. However the food could have been better. I had Chicken Tikka. £8.95. The sauce was very nice and the chicken was tender but scarce. I had to ask for more nana, (which wasnt charged extra) because the piece provided was very small. Rice was white but nicely cooked. There was no additional accompaniments, chutney or onion salad. My companion had haddock and mushy peas. No discount for no chips. The batter was thick making it crisp on the outside but stodgy inside. The haddock was fluffy white fish but fairly small. (£8.95) Pint of diet cola £2.80 and mixer £1.50. We got a timely check back. Overall an...

Well went with the family for a meal today, after reading the reviews we were expecting great food, couldn’t be more wrong. Our son had the mixed grill and was asked how he would like his steak, medium rare he said, when it arrived it was like an old boot, the salad it came with I wouldn’t have given to our rabbit. I had the steak pie which looked and tasted like it had been ‘warmed up ‘ more than once. The fish & chips, clearly frozen and heated. The kids pizza again frozen and semi-heated we sent this back twice, because they couldn’t melt the cheese! In the end most of the food we left. We did get a discount but that’s not the point. When you go out to eat and pay a reasonable price you expect freshly cooked food not reheated and...
