After visiting Santa in Barton Grange with my twenty-month-old son, we go here as the restaurant in Barton Grange wasn't really baby-friendly and packed. And I can honestly say, will not be coming to Ocean Fish and Chip's again.
TERRIBLE SERVICE. A man made us wait for ages to be seated when it wasn't busy and we could have walked over to a table to seat ourselves, all with a hyper, hungry toddler to hip. He still made us wait, wrestling with my son. The windows had no blinds and with winter sun, we were seated in direct sunlight with the few tables cast in shade already occupied.
We were all blinded and too hot.
The staff who finally decided to see us to our tables didn't offer to bring a high chair, nor tell us where they were as they were hidden behind a wall and I had to go hunting for one.
The food took AGES to arrive. We ordered fish, chips and curry sauce along with jumbo sausage for the little one.
The food was something else. Rubbery sausage which would not cut thanks to blunt knives, cold chips and curry sauce which was as weak as water and somehow thinner.
It was tasteless, absolutely tasteless.
Avoid going here. It's overpriced at basically £10 plus for a plate of a few cold and soggy chips, rubber sausages and water sauce.
For the wait, the price and next to Barton Grange, you'd think they would doll up this place and make it better for everyone. We weren't the only ones complaining, not that the staff member cared much when he bothered to return from standing exceptionally busy in his quiet restaurant near his beloved till.
Another family left from the wait.
We should have left too. Suddenly the OAP Christmas overpriced dinner served in a sardine packed dinner over at the Grange seems SO much...
Read moreAs a group of mostly senior, mainly handicapped, group we visited this restaurant recently to dine on their fish and chips. Although the food was excellent, hot and well served. The servers carried out their role as well as could be expected considering the seating arrangements, The big drawback was the fact that we were all squashed together in 3 rows of tables with hardly room to move between the rows when empty, and NO chance of moving down them when we were seated! Considering that many of our group have trouble walking it was a shame. The clue is in out group name, which l will not mention but includes DISABLED within the title! If a toilet break was needed half of a row had to move to allow that person out! To add insult to injury we, the customers, had to hand meals along the centre row of tables to diners in the middle of the group. Furthermore there was plenty of space within the room to separate the rows of tables to allow easy access by diners and servers to enable them to carry out their role correctly. All in all. Food - very good, Servers - very good. Seating, for our group, let them...
Read moreVisited today - very disappointed. We will not be returning. It was our first visit. The waitress was pleasant & asked about allergies. We were asked if it was our first visit - which it was. Oh you are in for a treat. The coffee was cold - this was quickly replaced which was good. However the chips that accompanied the meals looked like they had been cooked more than once & were very dry & not nice at all. We left most of them. We did mention this to the waiter - who said he would check why. He came back & said everything was the same nothing had changed in the cooking. The manager came over later - offered us new meals which we declined as we had to leave. We wanted an explanation as to why the chips were so poor. We all said the same. She went away to make enquiries and never came back. We mentioned this when leaving & were ignored. The meals are not cheap - we expected at the price of £12.50 for fish & chips it would be excellent, it wasn't. Sadly we won't be returning - chips were awful and one of the party said there was hardly any fish in the batter....
