What is always a great and friendly experience was recently brought down by the miserable nature of one of the Honeywell butcher staff.

I'll attempt to portray how horrible an experience it was but for the first time in our lives at shopping at Barton Grange, we were genuinely tempted just to leave our trolley and walk out. Yes, it was that bad.

Each and every time we go here, it is such a pleasant experience and you are always guaranteed a laugh and a joke with the staff without fail. From the cheery counter staff to the Evil Cake Lady in the corner with her delightful boxes of temptation, it's a always a pleasure but this time it was just something else.

This young tattooed girl (no I don't have an issue with tattoos, each to their own) reluctantly came over to serve us and when we stock up at the meat counter, we are there some time so it's nice to interact. There was no way on earth this was happening this time. From various steaks to pieces of meat, this young girl just kept throwing them around without even making so much as the slightest hint of eye contact and also managed to do it without saying a word to us. You could tell she was in a mood as one of her female colleagues kept looking over and smiling at us as if to say "is everything alright, we know what she's like today".

The only time we heard her speak was when she asked her colleague to cut a piece of silverside for us and she threw it onto the table near him.

Don't get me wrong, we all have our off days but don't put anyone who isn't feeling themselves on the counter.

I've only knocked off one star as Honeywell's should not bring down the whole experience based on one staff member.

As we were leaving, for the first time ever I decided to get an ice cream at the exit and we had such a laugh with the woman serving that we finally stopped shaking our heads at the treatment at the...

This has to be the poshest garden centre in the area, alongside Bents (nearby) We popped in for a look around and breakfast. The breakfast was well portioned for £6 and grabbed a hot drink of coffee. Everything on the plate was good except the sausage (Cumberland ring) which was hard! Vegetarian option also available and about £1 cheaper. The coffee was bitter, not sure what is going on there but I would have milk with it if I were you. After the breakfast I grabbed a chocolate milk shake which could have been colder but it was tasty, the glass and mixing jug were a nice touch (see photo). After food were wandered the outdoor plant area which was as expected and well priced. The shop was lovely, including candles, cushions and cutlery you can rest assured if you are looking for a gift or inspiration then you can find it in there. They have plenty of pretty vases and clocks, pictures and indoor plants. The food hall is nice to pop into; anything you want, really. We got some fresh asparagus, pasta and bread. There is a little sweet shop just after the food hall so make sure you have a look. I noticed that there is a restaurant and bowling alley across the large carpark but did not enter, it looks nice though. I look forward to return here because it’s so nice and it is full of nice things, it is popular with a mature crowd and bus trips so beware of queues in the restaurant. You won’t be...

I come here approximately twice a year for the past 7 years I travel from Halifax not just because I believe it to be the best quality meats and sausages but because of the service. I visited last month and was a bit surprised at all the changes this being the safety measures for Covid. But I was so disappointed that all the meat was now pre packed the butcher could see I was looking a bit lost and came over and asked if he could do anything to help, I explained I like my steak cut to a particular thickness not the size that was already pre cut. With out hesitation he went to the back bought out the whole joints and cut the steak just how I like them even opening a new full fillet to cut them to a lovely thick size. He had no need to do any of this but I was so thankful made the trip even more worth time. So if you want fantastic meat with an excellent service can not recommend enough 5 star all...

Absolutely massive garden centre few minutes from Barton and A6. Great selection of plants, flowers, pots garden ornaments etc. You name it and definitely will be there. Quite a nice cafe so You can sit down and have same food. Really stunning decor, you can see someone has invested some money there. Spacious parking. Best place to spend the whole day there or at least afternoon, get some nice plants and enjoy your day
