4.2 on Google, 3.3 on just eat with your highest review 4.4 on uber eats. You're right, absolutely nothing to improve on!
Your response isn't very reassuring as a business. considering the fact I've been here multiple times before and never received service like it is very telling of the way it's gone downhill. The salmon was, in our opinion, not fresh. You may have taken it from the packet, but that doesn't guarantee freshness and as regular salmon eaters we can assure you it wasnt finishable. You have made a point of saying that you asked us how the food was; you literally threatened to hit the chef for burning the food! I wasn't going to sit and argue with you about food that was already tried, and from your response I am glad I didn't complain immediately. You seemed very aggressive in your tone, mannerisms, and your sheer attitude. Even the lovely serving lady walked off from you looking absolutely done with your attitude. That French toast was IN MY OPINION awful. Brioche is traditionally used and I've never ate at a patisserie/brunch resteraunt in which the French toast didn't even contain cinnamon. It's just poor food in my opinion. We ate and paid for the meal and gave our honest opinion about the experiences. The toilet doors were filthy, the entryway into the building was filthy and the only redeeming factor was the decor internally was very nicely done, hence the aesthetic inside was pleasing. Take the criticism as feedback like any good business owner, instead of feeling the need to defend yourself with good old Wikipedia that anybody can edit on a whim. As for the cappuccino I can absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt in my mind, tell you now that it wasn't a cappuccino. I am an avid coffee lover with a 1k pound bean to cup machine in her kitchen and I visit coffee shops daily. It was more like a latte than a cappuccino. Take yourself to any reputable coffee shop and compare it to yours and you shall see what I'm talking about. Like I said take the criticism with pride and use it to your advantage instead of feeling as though you have to justify the sub par food and drinks. FYI most reputable establishments update their menus seasonally with a set menu alongside it. I'm in the top 10 percent of Google food reviewers and have a 6k following on Snapchat so I think I have ate at enough places to give an honest review.
The food wasn't good. The food was burned and had to also be taken back. The salmon wasn't very fresh, so it wasn't finished. They serve "French toast" but it's not. It's bread from the supermarket dipped in egg. French toast is brioche seeped in egg with sugar and cinnamon. The food was so basic and underwhelming, not very flavourful at all. The desi naan was about the tastiest thing and even that was underwhelming. The manager made a comment about hitting the chef that burned my food which I found hugely inappropriate. The cappuccino was watery and had very little froth, so definitely not a cappuccino. As a coffee lover it was the worst I've had I only drank it because I needed something to wash the food down with. I went here a few years ago and loved it. I'm so surprised it isn't up to par anymore. They definitely need a menu rehaul considering they don't even serve anything pistachio related in today's pistachio trending society. The entire menu...
Read moreSuch a disappointing experience.
There were four of us work colleagues who decided to go for lunch together at Café Patisserie.
There is not much parking available outside, Street parking only but due to the industrial units around we had to park a little distance away, which is fine. The restaurant is not accessible if you have any mobility issues. The steps are quiet steep and no visible access for people with wheelchairs.
The place was nice inside. Nothing outstanding but it was quiet, calm and relaxed. Ideal atmosphere to go for lunch and chat.
After that our experience just seemed to go downhill.
When our order came, the Panini ordered by a colleague was burnt. I mean clearly burnt, not even well done, but black burnt bread which should NEVER be served in a restaurant.
When this was pointed out to the waiter, he just stood there and asked "what would you like me to do?"🤦🏽♂️
Any way he agreed to replace it and the replacement came soon enough.
So a quick feedback on the food. This feedback was from each individual who ordered that item. Keema paratha - nicely cooked but the main thing which made it taste ok was the cheese. 7/10
Mac and cheese - a bit bland and not much flavour. Cooked ok but then again not really a difficult dish to cook. 5/10
Keema panini - ignoring the first offering which would be a -5/10. This was a generous portion of keema in the Panini, but it was let down badly by the fact it was nothing else in the Panini. The keema was bland, no real flavour and unforgivably, it came with salad which was clearly not fit to serve. It was 'old' and in no way fresh. That is unforgivable in my opinion. 2/10
Keema pie - if ever you want to order this, please don't. The pie was overcooked, the pastry dry and hard and the keema inside was a waste of space. The chips were ok. 🤷🏽 The most flavoursome item on the plate? Probably the pepper I added to the chips. 1/10
So trying to salvage something from the experience, the both seating was nice and comfortable, conductive to a good conversation in a calm relaxed atmosphere.
Would I go there again? No. Even if the...
Read moreLovely interior and waiting staff. I was hoping for more from this place but it just didn't fully deliver unfortunately. We went there for my surprise birthday treat and ordered 3 full English breakfasts, a cappuccino and latte and French toast brioche. The French toast was served well and tasted great. The coffee unfortunately was too bitter for my liking and I struggled to finish it. We also had to request cutlery a number of times.
The biggest disappointment was the conversation with the cafe manager at the end of the meal. When asked by the cashier how the food was, I told her it was nice although my husband would've liked bacon to be included in the full English. She struggled to understand what I meant by bacon and turned to the cafe manager who also seemed baffled. After mentioning "halal" bacon the cafe manager condescendingly joked that "they don't say/do bacon around here, no body wants it" - suggesting that the customer base in the local area would not eat it due to its association with being non Halal. While I may have understood this 20 years ago, the selection of halal produce is as widely available as it is diverse. Further, I am a head scarf wearing visible Muslim so to loosely suggest that I would be requesting anything but Halal is ridiculous and actually quite offensive.
Also shocking as almost every other Halal breakfast place up and down the country offers a selection of halal meats. In sharing my feedback, I also mentioned how not only Halal turkey but also Halal Macon (lamb) is now widely available and is in fact available from a well know Halal supermarket up the road from the.
At this point I realised that while some restaurants may appear to be different from the rest in terms of interior, sadly they still have a lot of catching up to do esp with regards to receiving honest and well meant feedback. Suffice to say, I don't expect to be going...
