Heard amazing things about this place and they are all TRUE!
Ordered the kabli pilau which came with a lamb shank that was literally falling off the bone - so soft and the flavour of the rice was divine! Filling portion for one and enough to share as 2 if you order other things off menu. The masala fish was some of the best I’ve ever had, ever. No fishy smell at all, just soft and flaky, great spices used and not greasy. The naans were definitely freshly made, perfect combo with the masala fish, the salad and mint sauce/chutney. Chapli kebabs were also great, great portion size and having them with the naan, salad , sauces were sooo good. Will definitely be coming here REGULAR! Got 3 drinks too and it came to £29.50
Theres traditional afghani tea for 50p too, a really nice refreshing taste - got a cardamom taste if you dont mind that but thats the tradition.
The service is good, nice and friendly and easy to get their attention as they’re always alert for the customers.
Atmosphere is homely, nothing extravagant in decor but they’ve got some booths in the back, perfect for families. Came back again for their breakfast and tried the channa and Nihari with paratha. Enjoyed the channa but felt like more desi flavour/spices were needed, felt a little bland only tasting the chickpeas. The nihari was so soft and the gravy with it wasn’t spicy at all. Taste more like a meat stew/soup sort of thing. Meat was nice but I wasn’t feeling any desi spices to it at all unfortunately. Came back a third time to try their new tawa menu. Tawa for 3 people cost £40 which was overpriced for the amount they gave. On the menu it said “chicken curry, lamb curry, …. Etc” but the waiter said you can only choose either chicken or lamb. Why is it included in the description when you dont offer it? Dont get me wrong, the lamb curry was amazing but the portion was NOT FOR THREE PEOPLE. Definitely for 2 people. It was 3 seek kebab, 3 small chicken boti, 3 small fish pakora, 3 chapli kebabs (not chunky, they flattened it out to make it look big!!!) and chips and nan - How do you offer 1 naan in a tawa for THREE????? If another curry was included, then fair enough. Other tawa places give more curry and a larger portion on a tawa priced at £40. Lower the price or increase the portion. (Also, prices have gone up by a couple quid...

Went with someone else yesterday, walked in and sat down, ordered immediately—all was ok then.
Fast forward to when the 5 chicken wings arrive, they were just salted and put on the grill to have a Smokey effect, whereas in the photo, the wings were glazed and had sauce on them…ours came dry and was poorly presented on the plate. That was strike 1. We asked the female sever where the sauce was and she called her male server, they looked at us as if we’d killed their cat, while the other guy smiled and said it simply came like that.
From that moment onwards, the service was awful! The female server smiled at everyone else who kept on coming in but constantly had a stank face when we wanted more drinks.
There needs to be awareness that not everyone who walks in the restaurant is Afghan, so rather than having empty plates with a napkin on, also add utensils. We asked for cutlery and they came after some time but weren’t washed properly.
The staff just work extremely slowly. The small and frozen salad on the plastic plates were not fresh at all, coming from a caterer, we know what is fresh and always bought. Chips felt cheap, onions were rotting and the cucumber tasted like it’d been defrosted for some hours.
The food from the outside smelled lovely, but eating is was the most underwhelming feeling ever. Wouldn’t recommend...
Read moreMy wife doesn't eat lamb much or that is what I thought of her. One day we ended up in Shinwari and had namak karahi. she finished it all, even cleared the karahi pan with naan. From that day on, if we are going to Bradford, it's going to be shinwari by default because of her. Been there multiple times now, taste is always great. Chapli kebab platter: these are three chapli kebab with a naan and egg fried on top. Trust me, you will struggle to find authentic Peshawari chapli kebab better than this in UK. If you have been to Peshawar then you would know what I am saying. Namakeen karahi and charsi karahi: proper lamb and chicken karahi in Peshawari style, without any red chilli peppers. The absence of red peppers takes away the 'usual' taste of all sub continental curries and gives this lamb its own originality. I think it makes it easier on the stomach too and you end up eating more and enjoying it fully. Peshawari qehwa: nothing can water down your well eaten meal better than Peshawari qehwa. It's sweet with a touch of lemon and a must, especially in these winters. To top it all it's complimentary and bottomless. Service: always a pleasurable experience, chief cook is chatty and loves to connect with customers, looks after each table personally to make sure they're looked after. If you're an extroverted person, you will love his company...
