We went there for Father’s Day June 18th. We booked for our table online months in advance as our friends recommended this restaurant to us. We booked our table for 7pm, but they sat us down at 7:30pm. Upon sitting down we immediately ordered our food as we saw how busy the restaurant was. We ordered special family mixed grill for 4. Our food didn’t arrive to our table after an hour of waiting (even the table of 10 sat opposite to us asked the staff members what is happening with our table as they noticed after they had their starters and mains, ours hasn’t still arrived) we didn’t get no apology for the long wait, they served the food without the chips we ordered, there was barely rice in it (not enough for a family of four anyway), we waited 10 minutes for the chips to come, when the chips arrived it was stale so we return and requested for a fresh portion of chips which took another 10 minutes. We had to physically get it ourselves from the chef counter as otherwise we would’ve waited for ages again if we left it to the staff, same for our drinks the wait was ridiculous we had to go and get them ourselves from the counter. They were severely under staff for servers cuz, the fact that it is Father’s Day they should’ve anticipated the demand and put more staff on the floor. They we’re running like headless chickens, very unorganised, no one had sections to look after leaving customer waiting for their plates to be cleared, people who sat and put an order after us had there’s delivered before we received our food. Like I’m not going to lie, even though they spoilt our day by making us wait long the selection of meat didn’t disappoint. Definitely will not go back there to celebrate special...
Read moreOur favourite Turkish / Mediterranean food eat out, all halal and no alcohol 👌, vibrant and lively setting with decadent desserts / mocktails:
Friendly customer service - always better to pre book for a smooth dining experience; nice waiting areas with clean WC facilities; waiters / waitresses are hit and miss / you'll need to be patient with the newbie's 😉 - Can be a long wait for food / especially when super busy; regularly check in with your attendant to get an ETA for your food and bring some good company to help with any long waits 😂
Superb selection of menu items - it's all pricey stuff / get what you pay for; we usually have the 'Shami Grill' (c.£17) meat always nicely done with spicy rice; for dessert the 'Kunafe' with pistachio ice cream is always a hit (c.£7) / you must try👌- The 'Chicken Pide' is a nice choice for a shared starter (7 strips)
Family friendly environment - good menu variety for kids; plenty of seating for families, couples and singletons - Listen out for the odd birthday song (with a Turkish twist) on the loud speakers which may allow for a pleasant break in your conversations - We always enjoy the environment here, lively especially on weekend evenings 👍
Prayer room facilities - check with staff, local mosque 5 min walk away 🤲
Tricky parking - we usually park on Summerville Road and do the 2 min walk in; dedicated parking spaces (10-15) outside on the doorstep / too tight for my liking but...
Read moreHighly recommended to visit this restaurant if you are a fan of Turkish food like my family are after a recent visit to Turkey. Would strongly advise anyone when visiting this place to book a table in advance if you visit on a busy weekend. I turned up a week before on a Saturday evening and they would not give me a table unless I had a booking so they turned me away. This time I booked it online and they even rang me half an hour before I showed up to make sure I was coming.
For the starters we tried a bit of houmous and fresh bread, then we tried some cheesy spring rolls, falafel, spicy sausages and spicy potatoes. All looked very fresh and hot. For the mains we ordered a lamb minced pide and a margherita one which came very hot and just how we expected it. Nice thin and crispy base so it didn't feel heavy to eat. We also had a special mixed grill topped with bread which was a nice touch for presentation.
For drinks we tried the mocktails and finally had some pistachio baklava, sorbet and ice cream which finished off our whole experience very nicely. Thanks to all the team at Mezza as we thoroughly enjoyed everything from start to finish. The staff were very friendly. The service was spot on for a very busy evening and we didn't have to wait long for any of the food to arrive. Keep up the good work and will definitely come back again with...
