I recently had the absolute pleasure of dining at Eaton's Café in Braintree, and I cannot contain my excitement to share what an incredible experience it was! From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine enthusiasm that made us feel right at home.

The outstanding service provided by Karina and Ellie truly exceeded our expectations. These two exceptional individuals are the epitome of hospitality, radiating a contagious happiness and enthusiasm that spread throughout the entire café. Their friendly and attentive nature added an extra touch of magic to our dining experience.

What made our visit even more special was that it happened to be my wife's birthday. To our delight, the staff at Eaton's Café went above and beyond to make her day unforgettable. Not only did they surprise her with a beautifully decorated cake, but they also adorned it with a sparkler and gathered around to sing the heartfelt rendition of "Happy Birthday." It was a truly memorable moment that brought tears of joy to my wife's eyes.

Now, let's talk about the food. The quality and taste of the dishes served at Eaton's Café are nothing short of exceptional. Every bite was bursting with flavor and made with the utmost care. I wish I had thought to take photos at the time of my visit. We ordered the beef stew and dumplings and a coronation chicken baguette. We had to wait almost an hour before it arrived. My mother's order (beef stew and dumplings) was served with a piece of warm ciabatta bread. The stew was like gravy with minute amounts of meat and a few potatoes. It was more like soup and the server gave her a knife and fork to eat it with.... Of the dumplings, there was no sight, not one.

On to the next, was my coronation chicken. It was more raisins/sultanas than chicken. In a very strange sort of thin curried sauce. I couldn't eat it all. None of the creaminess you'd expect from coronation chicken. I may have been wrong but I couldn't detect any mango chutney which is generally an added ingredient in it.

On to the positive points. They offered us an extra drink on the house for the very long wait. When it was time to settle the bill we were only charged for half the meal and offered cake as we were dissatisfied with the food. The latte and hot chocolate were fine and the...

Went in last saturday for lunch. Lovely little tea room/lunch room. Can't fault the food. The hot chocolate I had was lovely.the wife had tea which was fine also. We both had jacket potatoes which came with nice fresh salad which was all nice. The only issue was the wait was really long.we were there nearly an hour before we got our food. Have to say I cannot fault the blonde waitress. She was extremely polite and was apologising to everyone in there for the wait and doing her very best to try and keep people happy buy some people were getting up and leaving. She alone is the reason I give a 4 and not a 3. Not sure if the owner was the cook(foreign lady) as she seemed to be fairly aggressive toward staff when I waited down stairs for the wife.
