Shoutout to TOAST Braintree and the awesome ‘That girl’ and Becca!
I visited TOAST 🍞 Braintree about eight times yesterday —it wasn't planned to work out that way I have a feeling a few people in there might think it was🙈, but each time I was met with the biggest smiles! 😃
The second visit wasn't intentional but turned out to be an exceptional experience nonetheless—though a bit embarrassing 🤭 for one of us. ‘That girl’ (can’t remember her name, the lowkey, lacking one) handled it with grace and put it down to a recent bump on the head.
I’m all about the coffee and ‘I like my coffee like I like my Ladies’ 😍 - absolutely banging, rich, and flavourful, so…. Lucky for me, TOAST nailed it on both counts! Exactly what I needed to kickstart my day the right way.
If you were to ask me about the vibe 😎 it’s very much just a 'chill out, let's get to know each other' type of vibe. ‘That girl’ and Becca really did have a great way with all of their customers and I will 100% return because of that reason, but… I can’t promise it will be 8 times in one day.
Big Love to TOAST! Highly impressed and I can’t recommend them enough! ❤️
P.S. They whipped up a peanut butter and jam toasted sandwich for me, even though it wasn’t on the menu. No questions asked. Sadly, while I was outside on a call (the signal in there is beyond Ssssshhhhhoooooooooooocccccckkkkkiiiiiiinnnnngggggg!!!), my companion devoured the sandwich! He said it was the best he had ever had, which I really enjoyed to hear 🙄 because it...

It was about visiting a local toastie and coffee place that is known for its toasties and toasties were great. It appears that TOAST have now decided to make more money and make more cuts by introducing pre-made toasties and trialing it broadly across Braintree branch. There’s no option for sourdough for standard toasties on the menu. You can’t ask for more or less pesto or marmite for example. The toasties served to us which were on white bread, were also smaller at the same price.
The explanation was to do with waiting times being too long when making in store. Having watched the process previously in multiple branches, in my humble opinion the long wait times were due to TOAST being available on Deliveroo and the like, not enough machines, and due to a poor process in store between staff when switching between making toasties, serving, cleaning and making coffee.
They’ve also got rid of the app and gone for a cheaper website option which isn't as easy, especially where places lack signal and you have to log into Wi-Fi before then scanning a code. The app recorded rewards and stamps when it was offline.
So disappointed, thought we’d finally got a local coffee and food place that didn’t have the same...
Read moreThis review should be taken with a pinch of salt because there's nothing wrong with the quality or flavour of the food. The cheese and chorizo toastie was lovely however teething problems prevent me leaving a 4 star review.
Sadly the toasties are pre-made the previous day which makes sense to avoid wait times but it means gluten free options were not available, it also meant one of our orders turned out to be out of stock. Credit where credit is due they refunded the toastie and gave toast free of charge.
Its a small restaurant with downstairs toilets that are not wheelchair accessible, the stairs leading down are small and look like an accident waiting to happen.
The prices are a tad on the expensive side for toast, 70p per slice plus topping. Much cheaper to throw some toast in your toaster at home but if you're in a hurry stop by. £6 for a toastie and they are rather small. Costa next door serves larger portions for around the same price if you don't mind a chain.
I'll come back in future once teething problems are...
