Halstead Cafe is located in the town centre between W.H Smiths and Sainsbury's. It is on the ground floor and has 4 seat tables which are well spaced so you don't feel like you're sitting too close to someone else, this could be due to Covid spacing or just how the layout is. The menu is mainly breakfast and all day breakfast based with some other dishes available such as shepherds pie and liver & bacon, roast dinner and burgers. Service is fast and friendly. The portion size for the largest breakfast is slightly underwhelming so perhaps a bigger breakfast could attract more people. Generally the food was fine, my wife is a little particular about the cooking of her eggs as she doesn't like any "snotty" egg white and there was some on her eggs. Other than that the food was OK, not great but not bad, we both had a strange taste of cinnamon on the hash browns though! Marked 4 because it's nicely spaced out, friendly and the service is fast. Read moreHalstead Café is a wonderful, cozy little place to dine, any time of the day, and is nice and warm inside with friendly staff.
Very reasonable prices and good quality hot food that is well-cooked and not swimming in grease.
Vegetarian options are available and lots of other meal options besides breakfasts available too.
Coffees and teas are out of this world.
Staff are aware and responsive and will often ask people seated if there's anything else they would like while eating.
Drinks and portion sizes are generous.
I would recommend it to anyone visiting Halstead for the day.
Be aware that parking is local authority roadside parking, in painted strip bays on a rather steep hill. Parking bays are on a first come first...

I went in with my little girl, we ordered our breakfast,...after waiting ages for someone to come over, then they brought out the wrong thing for little one. She's got autism and was abit hangry. They had to leave the wrong plate there so maybe she could eat something.
Then the order came out 12 mins later...she left most and said it wasn't nice as her appetite changed I guess. He charged me for the wong order and the other orders. £28.50 for breakfast is abit sharp! I got robbed a meal over there mistake. I'm not going back, but this is just an experience I'm...
