Been going many times for a traditional Sunday roast, had been getting takeaways during lockdown but it’s so much better served. Sometimes found portion size too much that we often get a kid’s portion with extras. Absolutely perfect, friendly staff and always obliging with whatever request we come up with. Always cooked fresh, so a wait is inevitable. Ring ahead, book a time, give your order and it can be quicker. This is also recommended to make sure there’s a slot as it can get busy with it being so popular. If you’re prepared to be flexible, you won’t be disappointed. Absolute dive of a place- went in not busy and thought I would order food from the menu on the table after my train was delayed to London. Went to the bar told be told not serving food- also tables had reserved signs for food when the place was empty?! So I asked for a coke, I was given a filthy glass with lipstick, and pointed it out to the bar maid who was so rude in return. She took 3 other glasses out all filthy & she laughed. Been visiting Witham for a number of weeks and notice the pub when leaving the station, sadly because of lockdown couldn't enter. That change today and was able to pay a visit unfortunately it was cold and had to sit outside. Not a great time to experience the atmosphere of the The Railway.
