Costa — Restaurant in Breckland District

Awful - we always use costa, usually in Norwich, but all over the county/country and have never been disappointed with the service until today. Two staff, one a trainee, who had appalling customer service (leaning her head on the glass cake cover while on the till) really unfriendly facial expressions and disinterested tone of voice; the serving area behind the counter was littered with used/dirty equipment and cups. A third member came in, who had been to a doctor's appointment (I know this because they discussed it while I and a queue of customers was waiting) who washed her hands in the utilities sink, made 3 drinks and left again! There were dirty cups plates and trays everywhere in the seating area. We ordered 3 cakes, a coffee and 2 baby hot chocolates - they arrived, the chocolate topped tiffin and millionaire short bread were upside down on hot plates (I assume just out of the dishwasher) so the chocolate topping had melted, the muffin was on its side and my coffee was spilt in the saucer..... I then went and ordered a glass of skimmed milk and got whole, which I returned but was not offered my correct order or refund.... i then asked for 2 glasses of tap water, I was asked if I wanted ice, i said yes but just a 1 or 2 cubes otherwise my children play with them...what I got was 2 glasses with so much ice there was barely any water in them. Disappointing experience.

Upon our visit there was a lengthy queue forming with only one member of staff trying to serve and make coffee all at once. When a customer went to seek out further staff who were in the staff room they were greeted with sullen looks and a roll of the eyes as they (the other two members of staff) begrugingly made their way back to the counter to asist their co-worker.

The coffee was also tepid and not extra hot as requested. The interior was not also as clean as one would expect. The other branch located in the large Tesco store is a better bet in the view of...

I’m not sure whether this is normal for Costa to do this but it’s never happened at any other one I’ve been to. I went in at 5 with full understanding that they were closing soon. Only to go up and order, the young man serving said they had already put all the machines onto wash so I wasn’t able to get any food nor any drink apart from bottled which shocked me as there was still an hour to go. I ended up going to Starbucks next door, where I got served my coffee about 15minutes before they closed at 5:30. So good...
