Visited last weekend around 7:15pm. The restaurant was absolutely packed which is always a good sign and they managed to seat us within about 15 minutes which isn't too bad considering it was a busy Sat night. The waitress asked if we were ready to order so we ordered drinks and I asked her about an item on the menu. She couldn't give me any explanation so I asked if she would mind checking with the kitchen to which she went away and never came back with an answer so I decided not to risk ordering it. We were then left waiting to order food for almost 25 minutes whilst she took the food orders of diners who were seated well after us. Annoying. The tempura salmon roll arrived first and I must say, I loved that and would definitely recommend. I had also ordered 5 salmon and 3 tuna sashimi and instead 7 tuna were served. When I questioned our waitress she looked confused why I was complaining, I asked if she would mind swapping for what I ordered but she walked off and didn't go to ask someone else if this was possible. I had to then call over a man whom I believe was the manager who understood the issue and went to switch it. When it arrived back, I now had the salmon but they I given me pieces of tuna which were now half the size they had been before they messed up. I flagged down the same guy to ask where the normal sized tuna had gone and why I had the scrap ends :( He switched it but looked perturbed. I know I sound pedantic but when you see the tuna you could have won and then get tiny little pieces back, it hurts your heart ha! They also charged me for all tuna which was more expensive than my original order but I was too fed up to even argue it at this point. Honestly the service was just shocking, the roll was great but everything else was average and I'd rather just go back to Fumiko where I always get great sushi and great service!
Side note: I watched them mess up or not deliver multiple orders to tables around us. The lady next to us was pregnant and asked for no raw fish so they served her veggie sushi with raw fish eggs on it. When she again claimed she cannot have these, they just took it away and flicked them off the top. You can't do that, what if she was allergic?! They really need a better team...
Read moreThe staff were so polite, and greeted us with a warm welcome. They also checked on us and made sure everything was ok and that the food was to our liking.
Our food came out swiftly, well prepared and the presentation was on point.
Now, anybody that knows me, knows I absolutely LOVE sushi! Taro's sushi was AMAZING! That softshell crab (Spider Roll) , was the best one I've ever tasted.
Even the raw salmon one (think it was Chefs Roll), was good and I don't even like raw sushi too much. I didn't even notice to be fair until my friend told me. That's how well prepared it was.
The Duck Yakisoba was mouth watering. I only wish I got more broccoli as I love me some broccoli. The Duck was juicy, well cooked and was well presented. The drinks were lovely, spot on and they are not stingy with the alcohol. Love that!
I can't remember what main dish my friend got but, it tasted good also.
I enjoyed the atmosphere. We were like the only people there at one point so we kind of had the place to ourselves. Perfect!
Everyone was so smiley and the whole place was lovely. I highly recommend eating here! I will definitely be going back there when I get the chance.
Thank you for the delicious food and...
Read moreAs a foodie, I have been to so many restaurants but only a selective few got a review from me. Amazing and authentic japanese cuisine can be found here in Taro Brentwood High St. The staff were respectful and accommodating and just had a kind energy. You can take a peek at the chefs working on the food to ensure you that everything is newly cooked and fresh. The chefs were also very cheerful. The overall atmosphere was cozy and felt like a twist of modern and japanese culture. The cleanliness was a 10/10 and everything was just presentable and the interior of the restaurant just truly represents Japan itself. The food was delicious, the best of the menu being the wagyu beef steak bento box, it was truly worth the price as the wagyu beef they used was of top notch quality, the rest of the contents within the bento box were just satisfactory especially their rice. My favorite part was that the food was presentable, despite the busy restaurant, they still managed to put in extra effort into making their already scrumptious dishes look even more appetizing. This is my third time eating here and it surely won’t...
