I have been there twice and during the second time around, it had been a huge letdown.
We had to let them know around 40 minutes prior to ordering and that is what we did over the phone that time. I repeated that we would be dining in multiple times just to be extra sure.
We talked to them soon after arriving there and they assured us that everything was alright. When it was the time for them to bring the food, the person I before talked to came over asked whether it would be okay if it was served in a box because they thought it was a take-away order. I was with my friends and we requested it to be served in a plan, just like it usually is.
When they then brought the items, they came over twice but seemed rude and left the table hurriedly.
Seeing this, we decided against asking for plates. But halfway through eating, we wanted some tap water. When I raised my hand to get attention of one of the servers (another staff) while he was serving at another table, he did not even look at us and he still kept on refusing to look at us when he turned around towards our direction.
I tried the same thing again when he came close again but he kept on doing the same, seemingly deliberately and it was only when I said "excuse me" with a raised voice, so people around us also heard did he come over.
After leaving, the friends I was with (who go there regularly) said it was not uncommon for the people there to ignore orders but they still went there because of the food which tasted well with generous portions and had...
Read moreThis is gem of a place for taste.
However from a Customer services perspective, have to rate it very low.
The food was good although doubt it’s run by Pakistani as service people were not speaking any dialects from pakistan. Likely afghani.
That said we had karahi which was good. Although not the typical tomato’s you would expect but slightly creamy and still tasted nice. (I am not really a fan of cream in food which is usual to adjust to the western taste taste)
Naan were par excellence straight out of tandoor as you would expect in pk (only took pics of roti) Biryani was good too but I didn’t try it.
We also had chicken tikka which was more like chicken boti and was nice too.
Food value for price was excellent. Total 25£. The cheapest we ate for the price.
Highly recommended..
14£ for 1kg chicken karahi. 5£ for chicken biryani plate. 1£ for 2 naans and 1£ coke. W
Overall 5/5 for food and 1/5 for service. Took an hr to get food. Even though place wsnt busy. Plus the mention of cleanliness in other posts is quite true. But then this is a desi place and this is what you expect if you are at a typical desi place /...

The Chicken Karahi at Desi Dera is truly out of this world! It’s packed with flavors that transport you straight to Pakistan.
