Prince of Wales — Restaurant in Bristol

So I’ve been to this pub several times, and it’s nice, warm and friendly, however this review is linked to my latest visit and happy to change depending on if there is a response.

I’m house sitting for a friend, hence previous visits. Walked in alone, ordered. Staff poured my pint, with no basic customer service. No eye contact, chatting to other staff members (no big deal) but then put my pint down actioned payment on the machine and not once did I have a thank you. Actually felt very invisible!

Anyway, to hot in the bar so made my way to the beer garden, very lively, well presented, it’s clear owners put effort into this pub but……… again shocking customer service. Lone guy, end of pint, noticed by the staff member getting drinks and orders but subsequently ignored. This could be just me feeling isolated but just didn’t feel right. Ended up going to the bar to order my beer. Again same experience, no eye contact, no interaction, pint on the bar, machine sorted payment processed and nothing!

Unlikely to return and it’s a shame as this is a nice...

Having lived in Westbury on Trym for many years, I have watched with great interest the highs and lows of all its pubs. The Prince has always been one of the better classy pubs in Westbury until recently. Despite serving a decent real ale or two, unsavory characters have infiltrated the pub. There is no food server any more, and foul and abusive language is now common place. Drug taking in the toilets is clear and obvious to all. Builders in filthy workwear slouch in every corner. The management is week, or just does not care! In any event, many of the old regulars are drinking elsewhere to avoid the regular drug and alcohol fueled fights that are now common place outside the pub....

A rather rare, grown up, mellow, public house, full of people babbling away in convivial conversation, drinking excellent beer or whatever they fancy. Great service, and in the beer garden to the rear, young staff come around to take your top-up order. Nice touch. Nice pub,...
