Situated just off the market square in Aylsham is Biddy's Tea Room. The sister tea room to the one in Norwich.

Popped in with my wife for a bite to eat and boy oh boy it did not disappoint us. The place has an eclectic taste in furniture and decoration but that is part of the charm.

You have to wait to be seated but, the friendly staff soon came over and showed us to a vacant table. They then handed us the menu one for food the other for drinks and this is when the fun begins.

There are cold drinks and hot drinks available but, it's the range of teas that really is hard to decide on. Ceylon, Builders, Earl Grey, Lady Grey, to name a few. They also have their own blends.

The food was just as good. Sandwiches, afternoon tea, for one, two, three etc. Cakes, scones, biscuits the list was vast.

Eventually, we settled on Lady Grey and Biddy's own blend (my wife's favourite). A sausage roll each (massive!) and a slice of cookie dough brownie (to share, I'm not greedy).

The food was lovely and you got a pot of tea each with around 5 cups of tea in each. The sausage rolls came with chutney and a salad. The brownie had fresh cream and strawberries (for health).

The staff were brilliant today and very friendly and chatty and a real credit to the Aylsham branch.

Would I go again? Yes. Would I recommend it to friends, family and others? Definitely. If you're nearby pay it a visit. You'll not be...

I'm very sad to say my experience today was sub par, I wanted to treat my eldest daughter to a little treat so we choose Biddy's, we entered and was told to take a seat and someone would be over to take our order, after about 4-5mins an elderly couple came in and were told the same.

After 10 mins the elderly gentleman went to the till and was told we come to you but then had his order taken at the till, a couple of mins later we finally had our order taken for 2 cold drinks and 2 slices of cake.

While waiting 2 waitresses had a conversation about customers that had been waiting a long time outside for their orders to be taken, to which the reply was I didn't realise there was ppl out there.

We then received our drinks with an added jug of water we didn't ask for when we said we didn't order that but I believe it was another table near us she promptly took it out the back without asking them.

Then the elderly couple was given their food, followed by 2 walk in takeaways which followed a mad rush by the staff to get their orders together.

After 35mins and no food we gave up, went to the till and was told that's £15, when I challenged this and stated we never received any food I was told we serve the prebooked afternoon tea's first which none of the customers I mentioned were.

I have always recommended ppl go to Biddy's, after today I won't be returning and I wouldn't...

Wow, wow wow, this is my favourite place for Afternoon tea following todays visit.

Rob greeted us in arrival. He got the ramp for us. Took us to our table and put us at ease.

With this afternoon tea you can choose one sandwich which was a large portion with a small salad on the side. A variety of fancy choices of sandwiches.  I had ham, chilli jam and brie (mum had the same) and Grandma had cucumber, soft cheese on white bread. Then we got to choose what scone you would like.  Now you may think fruit or cheese obviously,  oh no, you are mistaken!!! I had lemon scone and there were about 5 other choices. The last decision  to make is what cake would you like.  My goodness what a range. Huge pieces of cake which were freshly baked. I had salted Caramel brownie, my mum had coffee and walnut and my Grandma had victoria sponge. We had two large pots of English tea between three which was plenty. My favorite place for afternoon tea and would highly recommend. It's also £17.80 which is cheaper than some places!

The decor is oldie worldie. Playing 1920s music. Lots of clocks and books on the walls. The bathroom facilities have pennies as the floor and walls and old fashioned wallpaper making it rustic and matching the decor.

There is a outdoor area. Best to book in advance...

Popped in as we were in Aylsham to visit the Country Market. Seated quickly in comfy chairs with a steamer trunk in between us as a table with 30's & 40's music being piped in behind us, a beautiful setting. There are traditional tables and courtyard seating too. Be warned, it gets busy at lunch time, so there may be a wait, but it is worth it. We ordered a cheese and onion chutney finger sandwich which came with a salad, pickle and slaw, I had a sausage roll (biggest I've seen) which came with salad and pickle too. My wife had a coke, but I selected their black tea and black cherry blend which came in a generous 4+ cup pot. Both the food and the tea were excellent, well presented, generous and very tasty. Staff were lovely, very helpful and happy to answer any questions, even run off their feet and dealing with some rude customers, they did it with a smile. Overall a great experience for the princely sum of £17, although I did end up spending a bit more to take away a bag of the excellent tea blend.
