Taste Of China — Restaurant in Broxbourne

Very disappointing. We have been eating at this restaurant regularly for the last 25 years and have generally been very happy with the quality of the food. This weekend though was a disaster with much of the food inedible. We had ordered an Imperial dinner with an extra fillet steaks in mandarin sauce. It started well with very tasty ribs and the Sate was a different sauce but quite nice. The spring roll was swimming in fat. The prawn toast that had always been delicious was just a hint of a layer spread onto oil soaked fried bread. Not at all nice. The duck was lovely though. The main courses were where it all went wrong. They were all intensely salty, and had unpleasant flavours. The prawns were like cardboard with a gloopy salty sauce. The vegetable dish was really not at all nice,all of the dishes had so much salt in them that after one mouthful we could eat no more and threw most of the food away. Even the prawn crackers were swimming in oil. Very disappointing. This is the second worst Chinese restaurant we’ve ever visited.

Male staff member was very rude and peculiar. He asked what we wanted to order without having a book to write it down and ended missing one of our dishes. Female member was very polite and attentive.

Duck was nice, ribs were decent and the crab claws tasted fresh. However:

This was the worst and most tasteless Singapore noodles I’ve ever tasted. They were grey in colour The rice had no salt Shredded chilli beef sauce was too sweet and there was minimal beef in the batter Salt and chilli Squid was so chewy Cutlery and 2 plates were dirty (had to ask for clean) There were no complimentary prawn crackers! (We spent £89)

The price is extortionate compared to other local Chinese restaurants that sell better quality food and at a lesser price. Everything we ordered came to £89!

Went to this restaurant at 8.35pm on 11/01/18 asked if I could book table for 9.00pm young chap in white shirt hummed and hard and said ok looking at the time.We arrived at 9pm out of the 4 set meals only 2 were available! A family left and then a couple left which left us , the music was turned off mid way through a song,and we were about to start our main course , my partner asked for music to be put back they put music back on , my partner was getting upset with how we were being served , the staff are awful and need to smile and make people feel valued! My partner confronted the staff as he was paying saying was very disappointed with the service and the one in white shirt said f... you I couldn't believe my ears !
