Incredibly happy with this place! My boyfriend and I are both ill and didn't want to cook food, so we ordered take away - ended up the highlight of our day. The gentleman answering our call was very nice (they missed a couple calls & called back on mobile) & we made sure that all chicken was tikka. He pointed us to order on their website with a 20% discount as opposed to just eat's 10% discount, too, which as a student is appreciated. The delivery man was also very polite. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. Having worked in an Indian restaurant before, I found that the masala tasted a little bit like a 'mango rose' dish I've tried before which I really love. The bhajis were also flat-ish which is my preferred type because they're thoroughly cooked. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his rogan josh. We got free poppadoms, chutneys & salad (perhaps by accident?) which is such a lovely bonus. I was worried the food would be late & runny as some comments pointed out but it actually was the right consistency (and trust me some Beeston restaurants have REALLY runny sauces) and before the estimated time. I understand this is a long review but when I think a place deserves praise it should receive it and this was my best Indian food in a long time. Will definitely order...
Read moreI have been a loyal customer for years. But the past 3 times have been a disaster making me think has the time come to switch.
I placed a pretty big order over (£120) i had to phone in as the app was not working and straight away the person was arguing with me that the app doesnt offer 15% off when it cleary does. They didnt honor this but i kept going. The food was late and missing items i rang up and they said cant u just make do and ill give u them next time for free. Which i thought was a weird response as i want what i ordered and it wouldnt be free ive already paid for it. Then i get another call telling me to check the bag its in there like iam lying, then after 40 mins it arrived. Ive noticed the portion size getting smaller and quality slipping from its normal high standards chicken has been chewy and dry and the last nights one has made me ill. Plus when they deliver it they blast out music from the street waking kids up!
Really sad to post this but its far from what i have been used to from...
Read moreGurkha is my ‘go to’ Indian restaurant as being the best in Beeston. However the meal we had at the weekend was very disappointing. The Bhaji were poor quality and both our starters came in a plastic containers with no salad/onion (as they used to be). The main course was bland and seemed entirely lacking any spices and although the quality was good it was basically like chicken in gravy. They seem to have dropped the 1/2/3 chili indicators of ‘heat’ from the menu so there is no guide of what to expect. I like quite spicy but others not so much. Delivery was prompt, which was good. I hope this is a one night glitch as until now they have been consistently good. Unfortunately this is a path I’ve seen other favoured Indian restaurants go. Crossed fingers they...
