Work is now complete on the new look expanded Ikea Nottingham. It is, just as before, a well laid out store, with everything just as you would wish to find it but just even better than it was before.
Part of the new store looks out on to the Giltbrook Retail Park to help you get your bearings. The familiar projected arrows help you find your way around and there are quick dart throughs if you need the loo or restaurant.
Talking of the latter, there are no trolleys to put your tray on as there were in the old restaurant. Instead, look for the self deposit conveyor on the left hand side as you leave.
Make sure you tidy up after yourself!
The restaurant is also well laid out, airy and spacious with a toddlers play area surrounded by bar style seating so you can keep an eye on them with ease as you eat.
There is a baby food warming facility there too and central gondolas to pick up drinks and refills. Lots of friendly staff can not do enough to help from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave and return to the plentiful parking via the loading area.
Stop by the snack bar on the way out after the tills and pick up some fresh warm kanelbulle (cinnamon buns) and plenty of other Swedish goodies!

Read moreWent here between Xmas and New Year and of course it was busy however it could have been ran and the layout could be better. There's no division in the queue between people who want to grab a slice of cake or people who are waiting for the lunches/dinners. This means a lot of wasted queuing if you just want a snack as it's the proper food that was holding everyone up. It also wasn't clear what items you could skip the queue for and which you couldn't (some cakes, bread and soup btw).
The veggie/vegan food was ok, but nothing brilliant. The veggie balls are decent enough but the biryani was dry and rather tasteless.
It's quite cheap like the rest of IKEA, but like the rest of IKEA some of the stuff is just that anyway. I do like the ciders you can have, they're super cheap at £1.30 a can. You wouldn't go far wrong with a pre drinks meal there tbh with stacks of meat or veggie balls.

Read moreWe've been coming here since it first opened and it seems to have improved year upon year. The food is standard fare but for the price the value is unbelievable. The cafe opens before the store which is useful to know if you're wanting a nice breakfast before you begin shopping. A lot of young families and older couples alike use it. There are always plenty of spaces to sit. The store now is also excellent with a lot more areas set up with the IKEA products, we really like it, as it has become a popular shopping experience. My one quibble on this visit, only one hot water station was working so there was big queue that was disappointing but didn't ruin our visit as these things happen. Would always recommend, we also understand lunchtime is very good but we have not tried this ourselves. But given the food that's sold on the shop would think it...
