The Dog House at Kimberley — Restaurant in Broxtowe

Having had our Wedding Reception party here last Dec 2022 this pub has always been a favourite of ours. However, after visiting on Weds 26th July 2023 with our dogs, for a few drinks and some food we will not be going again. After enjoying a lovely few hours we ordered some food. Not realising that they stopped taking food orders at 8pm…. We were a little late, but our order went through at 7.58pm. Having been assured by the barman this was still ok. On the arrival of our food the onion bhajis were black and greasy, the pizza had shreds of cold chicken on and raw red onion and raw red and green peppers, oh and the chips which used to be homemade were now standard frozen chips. We spoke to David the manager and asked if he’d had a change of chef? ‘No I don’t think so’ ???? We told him what was wrong with the food and all he said was “Thanks for the feedback, we’ll take it on board” and walked off! We then spoke with the barman after not being happy with the reply, he simply said he couldn’t do anything I’d have to speak with David. David came over & simply said…. “What do you want? A refund…… just give em their money back!” Absolutely gobsmacked with the arrogance of David, especially after using their establishment for our wedding. A Hidden Gem Discovered – We’ll Be Back!

We’ve lived in Nottingham for 24 years and can’t believe it’s taken us this long to find The Dog House in Kimberley – but wow, what a find! From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel completely at home. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and even our dog Margaret was treated like royalty with her very own bowl of chicken and veg!

We both had the roast beef, which was absolutely top-notch. It came with a massive Yorkshire pudding and all the proper trimmings – crispy roast potatoes, fluffy mash, stuffing balls, a pig in blanket, perfectly roasted carrots and parsnips, and the most indulgent cauliflower cheese. It all came with a generous jug of rich, delicious gravy that brought everything together beautifully.

Wow, this place is amazing!! The staff are so friendly and helpful and made us feel soooo welcome. First time visiting today and definitely won't be my last. Ordered Sunday lunch and chose beef and chicken thinking it would be a cpl of slices if both...wrong! A full chicken breast the size of my leg and loads of beef. Came with all the trimmings and even brought us extra veg and an extra portion of cauliflower cheese at no extra cost. The food is stunning and all home cooked I won't need to eat now for a week.
