My boyfriend and I first started our pudding pantry journey 2 years ago whereby the sherwood branch was our local. We fell in love with the food instantly and visited weekly.
1 year ago we moved to Beeston and the Pudding Pantry Beeston became our local. The branch in our eyes has always been the weakest.
Each time we visit, the menu has been ‘updated,’ which bluntly means they have increased the prices again. I appreciate the cost of living has increased, and therefore menu prices will, but Pudding Pantry increase their menu prices every few months which seems excessive to me and makes it very poor value for money now.
Not only are they increasing prices, but the portion sizes are significantly decreasing, we ordered the ‘loaded velvet pancakes’ today which had three small chunks of velvet brownie on…I remember when you used to get a minimum of six. We ordered a sausage sandwich on sourdough and surprise surprise again they had ‘ran out of sourdough’ just take it off the menu if you don’t want to buy it in? Or order more stock? We settled for white bread which also used to be a nice farmhouse white which today seemed to have also been swapped out for a cheaper alternative of warburtons white bread. I could list endlessly the amount of cut backs Pudding Pantry have made to their menu.
Similarly, the staff are grumpy and unhelpful. When you walk through the door, no member of staff ever acknowledges you, and you are told to ‘sit wherever’ and last time we went a staff member even told us to get our own menus from the side as she was ‘tired.’
I am not someone to normally write reviews, but I strongly believe there are hundreds of better brunch cafes to visit which provide better quality food and provide better value for money.

Read moreWe visited today for a Christmas afternoon tea treat. So, we had to wait for our table, we had booked ahead. Once seated it was nice and had a tablecloth which was basically all the extra treat you get, oh a poinsettia plant on the table. Our drinks order was taken, so the menu has loads of teas to choose but anything else is extra cost of 50p for anything else?! So £22.95 and you have to pay extra for a drink- unimpressed! We waited for at least 35mins before our food came which seemed a long time to say I'd already pre booked. The food arrived and the lady said you know the sausage roll is unavailable and no one had told us this and this seemed to be overlooked but she seemed confused like we should know. The food was explained and looked nice but for 3 people and for the price I feel it was lacking some. Each person had - 1 tiny sandwich, 1 cheese & chorizo scone ( tiny) 1 beetroot macaroon ( tiny), 1 circle of toast with gosts cheese n lamb ( small- in place of missing sausage roll) 2 chocolate scones each but why 2? 1 mincepie macaroon ( tiny), 1 Square of fudge, 1 choc roll ( small) 1 brandy snap. Although everything tasted nice, we were disappointed with the amount on offer for the price. We've had teas all over - chatsworth house, Colwick Hall ect... and this was pricey for the amount. Service was lacking as well, staff didn't come to see if we needed a drink or check if we were okay. They were friendly once you waved them over but just once to check on us would of been nice. Overall I feel like this was way overpriced and would of been more like £18 not £23. I wouldn't book this again but would possibly eat at the place for a different item off the menu. Taste wise it...
Read moreVisited The Pudding Pantry in Beeston a couple of times last month after having wanted to go for years. Was very glad I went at last!! They don't generally take bookings, but I went as a party of 2 and 3 on a Saturday daytime both times and was seated immediately.
Staff are very friendly and approachable and came quickly with menus and to take orders. Both times I ended up ordering a freakshake as I truly didn't think I'd manage fitting in savoury as well. While the menu is a bit pricy, I think for the sweet things, considering what you get, the prices are decent. The freakshakes were £7, come loaded with toppings as well as a whole slice of cake. The marshmallows appeared homemade and were delicious. My partner found the Salted Caramel shake too sweet, but the biscoff was which I had was amazing.
Good selection of drinks and savoury, although it'd be amazing if they offered porridge or similar! I'm not a fan of pancakes and struggled to find anything 'small' that could have balanced out the sweet.
Definifely will go back again when in the mood for some...
