Usually the first person to recommend cuckoo for their pizza but was disappointed with the comedy night through no fault of the comedians. The comedians were pretty good!
Comedy night started at 7.30pm. As it’s held at cuckoo we had planned to eat here for the pizza they serve with it saying they’re open until 10.30pm online. Comedy night at a pizza place, it was a planned date. However after the first segment finished at 8.30pm we went down to ask about ordering a pizza for the event upstairs and we were informed the kitchen is closed. We weren’t the first people to ask about food and left disappointed that for a 3 hour event they hadn’t thought to cater for anyone at the comedy night. My guess is they missed out on a lot of business and had quite a few people left hungry and disappointed. We were told that next time we should come earlier if we want food as they only cater for the event space if it’s a party.
As we hadn’t eaten since lunchtime around 1pm we were starving and had to leave the event to go home and feed ourselves and miss the next two hours of the event.
Also definitely worth trying to set up the event before people arrive rather than having everyone move their seats around after they have all settled in and sat down. As well as the sound system being fixed after the first couple of performers mentioned an issue with the mic.
Would have been the perfect opportunity for cuckoo to provide great pizza to people who haven’t been before and seems like they just didn’t think about doing so and really missed an opportunity. I wouldn’t come to another comedy night here again...
Read moreHad a really uncomfortable experience here.
We booked a table for 8 at 8pm on a Thursday night, to have dinner and drinks.
We sat down, after 15 minutes wait we ordered a round of drinks which cost £55. We also ordered food, there was no mention of food being delayed.
20 minutes later they came out and said “theres an hour wait for food.” No “sorry”, no “I hope you understand”. Stated as matter of fact by the waitress called Tia.
Her attitude was really poor, the way she spoke to us was degrading, and she was really sarcastic when we said we didn’t understand the wait times considering we booked in advance and they only cook pizza.
We looked to leave, and went upstairs. When leaving, we asked to speak to another member of staff who could understand our predicament and could be more sympathetic as our birthday meal was ruined.
Tia came up behind us and was aggressive again.
We left, I vented my frustration to the management over instagram message and was again made to feel like we had done something wrong. “You swore at staff” complete falsification. I believe Tia was behind the instagram so we had no means to being able to complain.
My advice to the owners/management would be to teach your staff to be more sympathetic and understanding to your customers frustrations.
Tia, I understand if you were having a bad night, but it means we won’t return and and we won’t recommend to our friends and family. 8 of us would have spent £300ish on this occasion. We went to a competitor and tried not to let this...
Read moreAppalling. The good reviews here must have been added by locals. This is one of a few bars we visited from our home a couple of miles away in Salford. As we walked in ‘garden is closed get a seat anywhere’.. sat but no menus… after 25 mins went to the bar to try and order, told to sit and wait for our order to be taken.. 15 mins later an order taken.. drinks dropped 10-15 mins later with nothing said and no glass for the German beer. Awful DJ - changing tunes mid-track and mixing between the lower and upper floors. Too busy enjoying himself near the bar. We moved upstairs and waited for more service. We were ignored. It was embarrassing and pretty shameful. The staff were having shots with the locals whilst we waited. As there isn’t much choice around there, we decided to try another drink. Eventually got the girls attention, she came over - asked for a menu as drinks aren’t shown anywhere, she came back, slapped the menu down and walked off without speaking. We ordered another drink, silence from her again, and delivered by another girl dropping and walking away. We paid the bill (eventually, we considered walking off but we are nice people), again girl barely waited for the machine to read before walking away without a word. Plenty of chat with the locals though. We preferred the Red Lion across the road (and that’s bloody awful, but at least it didn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is). A bar that is a plaything for the locals that...
