Family get together What a complete and utter shambles our time was at this place. We'd arranged a family get together for a meal in memory of our aunty and also in pre celebration of my lads 18th before going out. We pre booked the function room. Gave them all the meal choices of around 20 people. We told them guests would arriving at 6pm... "ARRIVING!!" And that 3 would be there earlier (gave them the list of the 3 meals that need making when those 3 guests arrived. As they had to leave slightly earlier than the rest of us). No problem.... I beg to differ.... I turned up early to put some decorations up. The room hadn't been set up .the Christmas decorations the pub were putting up were left on a table as they'd run out of time or staff... no tables were put together for our party so we ended up all at separate tables (you'll see why we didn't have time to do this ourselves) as guests were arriving on or just after 6pm ... the meals were coming out.no one asked were we ready. Would we like to be seated. No drinks orders taken. No we had to go to the bar ourselves (no real issue with that) where the bar was being run by 2 staff (on a busy night)so it was 20 mins before we got our drinks to sit down to food that had already been delivered to tables and going cold. Most of the orders were wrong. Under cooked or not cooked through and had to be sent back (which it was quite obvious they had been microved and sent back to us including steaks how can you microwave a steak and not toughen it up ) .. then the waiter was trying to sort out meals as people were not seated (due to trying to get drinks) and talking across a table full of people trying to get seated and eat their meal so the girl who had taken everyone's order had to stop eating her already cold meal and go through it with him. The whole party have said they'd never had such a shabby service anywhere. And not 1 of the party had any compliments about the food at all ....NOT 1 OUT OF AROUND 20. you managed to turn 20 people away from future visits in one sitting ... that in itself is outstanding work . As those 20 will pass on their bad experience too many others. Most of who live locally. To top it all when paying for our meals we told the manager our issues who apologised. An apology it seemed with no meaning but a readily used apology. Then he told the waiter to delete what he'd typed in the till (We were all paying for our meals in groups, family groups) as he "wanted to make sure everyone paid for what they ate and didn't pay without leaving" the manner in which he said this was accusingly. I had to leave my wife at the till there and then before I blew... I WILL NOT... NOT EVER BE GOING HERE AGAIN. NON OF THE 20 IN THE PARTY WILL RETURN EITHER AFTER HEARING WHAT THEY SAID. This is just a few and not all of the problems we had that night .. most of us didn't have desserts (except the kids) as we couldn't get out...
Read moreWe..booked a table..arrived on time ..was seated.. looked at the very sticky menus...(There where notices everywhere informing us the place was closing 7th May ..for a Refurb.) We tried to order on the QR code stuck to the end of the table...and it came up with the lockeepers page then asked for you to pay £3 to varyfy the payment i had all ready put in my bank details to pay...then it took us to another page and we couldn't go any further... on asking the landlord..he said that wasn't the right page he didn't know how it had happened. not even looking at the QR Code on the table... We ordered food at the bar 2 chicken sizzlers and a fish and chips. food arrived hot ..and very minimalist compared to the pictures...when asking a member of staff they said that's the normal portion..I had two small pieces of sprouting broccoli not even half a pepper and a quarter of a onion...bothe portions where the same..with a piece of chicken out of a multi bag from farm foods ..very dry and crispy around the edges...the chips with the fish & chips had been double dipped in the fryer for the colour on them.. all together..never coming back..and won't enter one of these pubs again. Oh and the QR code is a company advertising there gaming company charge you £3 and the £27.99 every fortnight if you don't cancel it withing the first 24 hours..thankfully we started looking into it as soon as we got home..because we didn't want to be robbed again for the second time in the...
Read moreNice approach and exterior look, littered with cigarette butts around the front doors, smoking are should be at the back only as there is a nice view of the irwell and could have adequate disposal. Interior is very welcoming at atmosphere feels nice, menu has an okay selection of foods, similar to what one would expect in a wetherspoons. Saw a promotion for a free drink when signing up to there home app so downloaded it. Approached the bar staff and was met with no welcoming and was very blunt, made an order for two meals and two drinks and pondered the welcoming gift, which the bar staff didn't know how to use but managed to take it from the account with still charging me. Food was warm not hot but tasted okay, portion could be much larger as me and my partner had finished work and weren't full. Got four more drinks throughout and pondered with a manger why the voucher didn't work to which was met with rules he'd made up about when you can use it. Overall a very good setting and lovely interior but could do with a new menu and better staff, were paying customers at the end of the day, we should be treated like it. Location is perfect for a carvery, a greeting foyer could be created, and more online presence would allow for more custom. Unfortunately part of a 'sizzling' chain so a forced lazy menu. Location is near partner mums so intended to go there when we visit but after this experience will be going to a more...
