Disappointed. Really disappointed. It was recommended, and on checking I pre-picked specifically the calamari (a favourite) and the double steak with lobster tail. What a let down. No calamari on. The large glass of wine I got was technically a small wine in a large glass. The Prawns were over-cooked and dry. The scallops were under-cooked and tasteless. (The apple sauce however was devine). The decorative 1 sprig of greenery was "minimal". A 20 minute wait between starter & main. Then despite ordering the extra lobster tail, it did not arrive. I could have waited a further 10 minutes (whilst I suppose our 2 supplied mains would have been "ovened" to keep warm?), but I declined. 2 fillet mignon, cooked rare, yet 1 was a lot rarer than the other (how?), and 1 contained gristle... in a fillet! How? The lettuce wedge was literally a solid wedge of lettuce with cheese crumbled on. The whole presentation was minimalist, chunky, unappealing. the onion loaf was unrecognizable. I heard others ordering dishes that were on the menu, but they "had none". I went specifically for a dish that when came was obviously way overpriced, poorly cooked, missing key ingredients, not as advertised, poorly presented, and I doubt very much meeting the weight advertised... my wife's 8oz was bigger than my 10 oz! Service was unsmiling; the "strict dress code" was ignored, the toilets were unclearly signed. And when I dared to say when paying, "the meal was not up to scratch" they wanted to discuss there and then, or even discuss on the phone next day. No doubt the bosses will say we had our chance to discuss, but that should never have arisen in the first place. We couldn't wait to get out. If that was normal service, it's a NO from me. If that was an "off-day" it's a NO from me. Restaurants with a supposed reputation and purported class do not have "off-days". I wouldn't expect to pay half of the cost. 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 drinks £106.30. Fair to say, will not be revisiting, nor recommending this place to anyone....
Read moreHonestly what a disappointment AGAIN!
The first time I come I had awful service, it took over an hour n half for steaks to come, we hadn’t ordered starters or any other food then 1 main each. Steak was so fatty and wasn’t that hungry by time it came , but thought we would give it another go as it’s supposed to be so good.
Wish I never bothered coming it was a night of wasted £200 for the 4 of us. We pre booked and asked for a booth as one of our party is in a wheelchair, yet when we arrived no booth just normal seating. For the money your paying to eat here I expect absolutely amazing service, very tasty food and not to be waiting over an hour yet we were highly dissatisfied.
Took 25 mins for us to receive our first drinks? Very Poor.Steak came over an hour and half after seating and all 3 steaks were cooked wrong and so fatty.
The birthday girls meal wasn’t even correct, wrong steak, cooked wrong and wrong sauce. She then had to wait 15 mins for a new meal to be cooked and everyone else had finished their food by then. What a celebration for her 21st who chose to come here!
The meal come and was what she asked for, however the steak was so fatty just like the rest of ours and the tomato wasn’t even cooked? A small detail but when her original meal was totally wrong you’d expect this one to be perfect no?
The girl who served us was lovely, extremely apologetic for the mess up and even brought as brownie for free at the end for the birthday girl.
Honestly such a let down the food is not worth the amount of money you pay and how long you’re waiting. We were sat for over 2 hours long and most of the time was sat waiting not eating which is a joke. This is my second time with the same service and wait times I will not be returning, so un happy this is the experience my sister got...
Read moreWe had a meal at Miller and Carter for my wife's 60th birthday, we tried it because we had heard so much about it. Could not fault the steak as it was a good cut, but that's where the praises stop. I had the 8 oz sirloin steak with the pepper sauce, I had fries which were nothing particularly different than McDonald's chips only ever so slightly thicker. There was onions that had been cooked and formed into a block and crispy, I would have prefared proper cooked onions as there was a lack of taste to the crispy ones after they'd been deep fried. Then we had to choose a flavour for what they called a WEDGE which was just an iceberg lettuce that had been cut into blocks or wedges and you then had a choice of topping, I had the blue cheese and Stilton. This part I could not see the point of , and maybe its some American idea that they decided to introduce to the menu. sorry but it did nothing for me and 3/4 was left on the plate because it was just lettuce, I was also concerned that how can you clean something that is served in a tight mass. I was disappointed that there was no sign of seasonal vegetables, for example, carrots, peas, etc, we finished off with a apple and damson crumble, nice but I have made better at home. So in conclusion, the steak was good but the meal was grossly let down with what accompanied it, I think on this score they are taking the easy way out by what they served with the steak. So for that reason I have given them the score I gave them, could not fault the staff they were Brilliant. So the lack of presentation, and imagination, and vegetables, and for that reason only, you lost 3 points.
