The Bower — Restaurant in Bury

Lovely friendly staff, this was our 3rd visit 2 for a lovely bottle of wine ans dish of olives but this was the first one for food. My partner is gluten free and I wasn't sure if the menu was OK. The lovely young lady serving us went and checked in the kitchen and returned with really helpful information and alternative ways the dishes could be adapted. We had a lovely tea tonight, a smoked salmon board for me and a pork board minus the sausage roll but with ample roast ham and a bowl of fries. Vegan review:

Had a lovely afternoon tea here, there was a choice of 3 vegan soups to start with, I opted for the mushroom and chestnut which was delicious. Then had houmous, avocado, mushroom all separately on lovely bread, and then vegan cheese sandwiches. There was a scone with a choice of vegan butter or vegan fresh cream with jam, a jam biscuit, a chocolate cake and a carrot cake. I got peppermint tea to drink, which was bottomless.

I couldn’t eat it all the cakes so they provided a takeaway box to take them home.

Food was delicious and service was great.

We had been out for a morning stroll with our dog and thought it would be nice to stop at Hollands for a spot of breakfast. But as we were ready to sit outside with our dog a young girl who worked there informed us that dogs weren't allowed couldn't really understand the issue as where the location is most people that walk around the area are dog walkers. We was approached by a leaving customer and they said you have just saved some money as the food was swimming in grease and horrible. Went a bit further on, had breakfast somewhere else...
