Awful experience with food. I noticed a large piece of what I'm assuming is burnt burger on my plate. I don't know how the so called 'chef' managed to burn something this bad. The others in my party all had beef Sunday roasts which looked overcooked and dry. Steer well clear of this one for food. Beer is alright.

We visited weekday afternoon, quick service, great value and definitely would recommend the buttermilk chicken burger or the hanging kebabs Also visited for a family birthday, very accommodating Make sure you enter your car registration on the way in at the bar to avoid a fine for parking on the car park!

Very quiet when we went, think we were the only ones in there. The service was great and good food. Standard Holts' pub menu, but a much nicer atmosphere inside than some of the other Holts pubs'. The food came piping hot and XL dessert sizes. Will return and hope it is busier on our next visit.

Where to begin
. Me and my family went there for a Christmas dinner Service was alright. However the food was terrible. Me and my family spent 180 pound for Christmas dinners. I understand it’s more expensive as it’s Christmas Day and people have to work on Christmas Day but the money was not justified when it came to the food. For the starter me and one of my other family members had the pate BIG MISTAKE. The pate was not spreadable at all rather frozen. You also only get 2 small slices of bread with it and to be fair the pate even though it was frozen was an alright amount. However I rather my pate not be frozen and to be more bread. The main course was alright but not great. My family member had a turkey dinner with no cranberry sauce had to ask for it and there was barely any mash. Was not the greatest. For dessert me and another family member opted for a cheese board selection tell me why there was 3 and a half crackers and two decent amount of cheeses which I didn’t like I left that but wasn’t really a cheese selection when there was only about 2 cheeses on the plate which I did not like. Waste of money really was not happy with the food I understand it’s more expensive at Christmas but 60 pound for one person for that food is ridiculous will not be returning even on...

Hmmm, not up to the standard we are normally used to on Saturday! Went for a birthday meal and got there early to avoid the evening rush. Plenty of tables free and about 10 other diners, ordered drinks while we perused the menu. Duly ordered the starters and mains and sat chatting, and sat, and sat. 25 minute wait for a starter of garlic mushrooms? Sorry but not acceptable, especially when others came in after us and got served 1st! Mains were also subject to a long wait, mine a Surf n Turf steak ordered medium but came very very well done, in fact almost burnt on the edges. The scampi was more coating than filling. My son had the mixed grill and all the meat that was ordered medium was burnt. The veg, chips, salad and mushroom were all ok though. 3 puddings were ordered, these came in a reasonable time, but my latte ordered at the same time disappeared somewhere and after 15 minutes I had to go in search of it, they had obviously completely forgotten. I did receive a sorry. Come on Joseph Holts, you need to get your managers to pull their finger out, one young waiter was obviously new to the job and was wandering round aimlessly with no supervision . Not good for a pub that has just had a lovely makeover and let down by sloppy service...

We've eaten in this pub regularly without a problem until the new management. Since then, any items relating to food have been removed from the tables in the bar room, which seems to be a deterrent. We preferred to eat in the bar room, as did others, as it was more private and quieter but It looks as though everyone is expected to eat in the restaurant, although no-one is queueing up for a table just to have a drink in the bar room. That room is usually empty now. Sadly, the good atmosphere of this really great pub had disappeared over the last 2-3 months. Even the ladies toilets, which used to have a beautiful automatic perfume now smells damp and musty. It seems we're not the only ones to be disappointed with the changes as it's very obviously not as busy as it was. We do still go sometimes but it's so quiet in comparison to how it was and for some reason the standard of food, which was previously excellent, has also dropped. A few weeks ago we had to send one of our meals back as it was inedible and my cheese pie came without cheese sauce. This was the first time we've ever returned...
