Two Birds & One Stone — Restaurant in Bury

So Today was my First time at Two Birds one stone but my Wife has been before and she really likes it and raves about it.

So we turned up as a walk in and luckily it wasn't to busy and we were seated at a table in the window.

After a few minutes the waitress came and took our drink order, My wine opted for a large glass of Red Wine 🍷 and I ordered a pint of Moretti, drinks came very fast, My Wife enjoyed her glass of Merlot and I really enjoyed my pint of Moretti.

For starters my Wife ordered Salt and Pepper Calamari with Lemon and I opted for loaded Nachos(Smashed Avocado, Salsa, sour cream & cheese), My Wife really enjoyed her Calamari and portion size was just enough for her and food was well presented, I really enjoyed my Nachos it was a generous portion.

For mains we both went for the Roast Beef with all the trimmings(Carrots, Swede, Roast potatoes, Mash potatoes, cabbage, cauliflower cheese) and a giant Yorkshire pudding with gravy, when the food came Initially I thought the portion was too small but it was actually a perfect portion size.

Food was very well presented, The Mash potatoes were creamy, The cauliflower cheese was delicious, The giant homemade Yorkshire pudding was great, The roast potatoes were amazing and the Roast Beef was honestly the best I have ever eaten it was thick cut and tasted amazing, The whole Sunday dinner was the best I have ever eaten.

The Bill for two starters, Two mains and Two large glasses of Merlot and Two pints of Moretti came to £81 and we rounded it upto £90.

The service was great, Restaurant was spotlessly clean, Polite and friendly staff, Great service, Great value for money and overall a great experience, We highly recommend Two Birds One Stone.

1st time eating at Two Birds & One Stone today, very strange experience. Lovely feel about the place and my food was nice, poached eggs overdone and not runny but no big deal. The strange bit was that I ordered the kids fruit salads each at £3.50, no joke it consisted of half a cut up strawberry each and 8 small blueberries in a tiny plastic bowl, I took a picture it looked so daft and ill attach here if I can but it was laughable. £7 for 1 sole strawberry 🍓and some blueberries.

I mentioned to first waitress that must be wrong, she said they ran out of raspberries and will come back, didn't come back so I stopped another to see if she can help, the manager (I think) then came over very defensive, with a whole full cut up strawberry and proceeded to say that this was the normal kids fruit portion size and that they dont normally serve fruit after 11am but they did serve it as an exception (which is a weird thing to say when I was never told, like I should somehow be grateful?) why give me the menu with it on if its problem? I dont know, weird. Anyway the waitress/manager begrudgingly gave my kids a strawberry to share as a “gesture of good will”. 😂

For some strange reason I tipped the nice waitress at the end (one who was very nice) 10% hoping to get some kind of apology for the weird experience but I got nothing, just the managers back to me and my family as we left… nice…

Shame, could/should so easily have been a nice meal but ruined it for no reason and now I'm writing a bad review which I've never done...

Just like too say firstly kelly was brilliant couldnt do enough.

My partner ordered an omelette tomato bacon and onions, was verry bland and didnt have onions after a a fair wait didnt want too have another made.

I ordered a breakfast which I couldnt honestly say any of it was good maybe the toast but also small peices.. mushrooms were dried out. Poached egg wasn't runny bacon dry sausages well done. Not sure about the pot of tomato sauce n 2 large beans it consisted of.

I wasn't even gonna complain just wrote it off as a bad job till kelly sent over the manager as she agreed it wasn't great herself. Now the manager was awful and rude after explaining to her about the food as she leant over the dwarf wall she offered no apology just picked up the plate and said "OK COOL" and walked off so rude.

They took the drinks from the bill as a gesture but they was the only thing that was ok.. as we walked too the till too pay the bill the manager gave us a dirty look and walked off.

Never felt so awkward and hungry tbh fair too say wont be...
