⭐️⭐️ | Cafe Di’ Lusso – A Brunch Spot with Missed Potential
As a first-time visitor to Cafe Di’ Lusso, I had hoped for a memorable brunch experience—but what I found was a mix of underwhelming food, slow service, and a lack of attention to detail that ultimately overshadowed the ambiance.
Upon arrival, the initial greeting lacked warmth. We were shown no real sense of hospitality—just a routine welcome that felt more like an obligation than an invitation. We chose to sit toward the back of the restaurant, where we were then greeted by a friendly and upbeat waitress. A promising start, but unfortunately, the rest didn’t follow through.
Drinks took nearly 15 minutes to arrive, despite the restaurant being far from busy. A large family that arrived after us received their meals before we even placed our food order. We ordered four mains: a desi omelette with parantha, a full English breakfast, French toast, and a poached egg dish with salmon and guacamole.
Only two of our mains arrived initially, with the remaining two trailing behind after an awkward wait. I typically avoid eating until the full order is on the table, which made the delay even more noticeable. Even a simple request for water took longer than it should have.
As for the food— • The full English was passable, with the sausage being the only standout item. • The poached egg dish suffered from poor bread selection; a toasted sourdough would’ve provided much-needed texture. • The desi omelette lacked flavor, and the parantha was rubbery and dense instead of soft and flaky. • The French toast lacked imagination—thick slices of bread with syrup drizzled across the plate and some fruit on top. Visually heavy, lacking finesse.
One glaring issue: a door at the back of the restaurant slams loudly every time someone passes through. It became a repetitive and unpleasant interruption during our meal.
In summary, Cafe Di’ Lusso feels like a place that wants to be great but hasn’t yet laid the groundwork to get there. The foundation is there—friendly staff, decent layout—but it needs refinement. A more welcoming front-of-house presence, quicker service, a tighter menu, and a more creative culinary vision could transform this spot into something worth returning to.
As it stands now, I wouldn’t recommend it—but with some changes, it...
Read moreSaw some posts on Instagram and came across Cafe Di’Lusso - so we thought we’d get brunch here whilst in Halifax.
The decor is very nice and is tastefully designed; as you can see from the other reviews.
I ordered the Eggs Benedict Royal (my usual order wherever I go for breakfast) and my family ordered the Full English, Wild Berry French Toast and some of the Korean Chicken.
Firstly, the food was presented very well. The English breakfast was good, however, the Eggs Royal was not the best. I’m accustomed to runny poached eggs - but these were fully cooked (I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt as I could have specified. However, I didn’t think I needed to). The hollandaise sauce also lacked a bit of flavour.
The Korean chicken also wasn’t my favourite, as it tasted slightly smokey and more like bbq chicken. (Again not an issue if that’s how you like it).
The French toast was delicious and redeems the two items which I didn’t like.
Staff here are very friendly, welcoming and polite. We were provided with excellent service.
Overall, given the staff, the presentation of both the food and shop. I would recommend if you are...

This was my first visit to Café di’lusso , and while there were a few teething problems, the overall experience was still positive. The manager, Hassan, who is a friend of the owner, Haseeb, was helping at the front of house and did his best to manage the situation. He took all our feedback on board with grace and professionalism. Haseeb, the owner, was also very receptive to the constructive criticism we offered, which was refreshing and appreciated.
As a kind gesture, Hassan didn’t charge us for our meal, which really showed their commitment to customer care.
The café itself is aesthetically very pleasing. The burger, made with a smash beef patty, was delicious, the chips were very tasty, and the tea was lovely.
We’ll definitely be back and are happy to overlook today’s initial hiccups. Hopefully, service will be quicker next time. With the positive attitude shown by both Haseeb and Hassan, we’re confident this place has great potential, and we’ll be recommending Café di’lusso to others...
