Six-months down the line & a good few return visits, this gem on the High St is our regular. Feeling like a proper pub in Ireland (not a tacky Irish themed pub), The Coach has a warm welcome which makes you want to stay for the craic (& of course the lovingly curated Guinness). Everyone works so hard to create a safe, fun vibe. Not only in the creation of a ‘By Day’; chilled welcoming day time, dog-friendly drinking hole & ‘By Night’; lively, interesting & oh-so-fun venue, but also in the pubs transformation. Since taking over this little piece of Whitstable history Maddie & Sarah have revamped both exterior & interior (inc’ brand spanking new toilets), set up the oh-so cool (Insta-haven) courtyard with weekend stone-baked pizza & of course decorated in their unique, and at times humorous style; putting some heart & soul back into this end of the High Street. Maddy, Sarah I don't know how you do it but you pick some top bar staff. They do you proud. Whatever your approach in selecting and then training them up, it's spot on. They are welcoming & attentive without being pushy, helpful & chatty when you want them to be, and so on the ball. Hats off to you and what you have achieved in a little over only a year!

We were visiting for the day and we end up in this lovely pub for a meal in the evening. I’m French, living in England for 14 years & when I’ve seen that they had sausages from Toulouse, where I’m from, I was so surprised & so happy!! The food was incredible, great portions, we couldn’t even finish it, so we took it away. The mash potatoes was the same than in France, buttery and so well flavoured!! The owners were fantastic, very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!!! Thank you girls for your great welcoming!!

Another good Whitstable pub. We only stopped by for a short while, but there was a good atmosphere, some decent music playing and the service was good. There was a good selection of drinks and there is also a small space outside to enjoy the sunshine if you are lucky enough to grab a seat. Unfortunately, we were not on our visit, but we will try again another time.

Popped in specifically to try one of their Sunday slow cooked stews as I had heard great things, went in with my seven year old son who at times can be a bit of a picky eater, the team headed up by Maddie and Sarah Could not have been more accommodating starting with the fact that we arrived after the kitchen had closed, yet we were sat and fed!

The food was genuinely some of the best comfort food I have ever eaten, slow cooked beef, braised in Guinness, colcannon mash with the most flavoursome cabbage! On a freezing cold winter’s evening, there was nothing I would have rather been eating. My son took one bite of mine and wanted a bowl all for himself, again this was swiftly accommodated by the team.

Maddie and Sarah are clearly extremely passionate about their food (as they should be because it’s incredible) they spent time talking us through the dishes and also entertaining my son, he genuinely had an amazing time.

Cannot wait to come back to see whatever gems I can find on the menu, but if you are looking for delicious, filling food that will put the biggest smile on your face, then...

After exhaustive research of Whitstable watering holes...of which there area healthy few, The Coach has become our favourite.

The staff, and owners are all so friendly, welcoming and chatty (if that's your thing... respectful if not) and give the place a real positive vibe with great customer service. Example; they had run out of a favourite tipple from one visit to the next, but by the time of ordering our 2nd round it had been secured elsewhere and was in the optics!

It has a well stocked bar, including the best pint of Guinness in The Bubble, and an impressive spirits selection including some locally made which is nice.

Oh btw, not tried the food, but given 5*s as they...
