Just been announced on the news that owners are not allowed to keep tips!!! Which is the case in this cafe, my daughter worked here since she was only 16 for 3 years, to be told she would never mount to nothing!!!! She is now training as a dental nurse.. Karen & the husband always kept the tips, my daughter was paid her wages out of the tips!!! So as the food is overpriced do not leave a tip because you will only line the owners pockets!! To the customers they come across as lovely people but are bullies!!, that reduces my daughter to tears daily!!! I feel very privileged to have worked for the Cafe several years back while completing my PhD; it's rare to find an employer that offers so much support to their employees. Both of my children have since worked for Mark and Karin and it has set them up for life in the real world. We've all said that if we could work for them forever, we absolutely would! Read moreMy friend eats here regularly and treated me to breakfast assuring me it would be lovely, but I was worried I wouldn't be able to eat anything being the awkward vegan that I am! There wasn't anything on the menu but the friendly staff told me there's another vegan that eats there regularly and I could have what she has.
It didn't sound that exciting but I was glad to be able to have something, but when it arrived I was blown away. Everything was cooked perfectly and there was a great selection of veg - cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, asparagus and pepper (I don't know what they did with the pepper but it was DELICIOUS) plus two big hash browns (light, crispy, fluffy on the inside and not greasy) and beans.
I'd happily go again and eat that every time, plus my friend's eggs benedict looked...
