Went on a Tuesday night for dinner with a couple of friends.
As soon as we walked in we were made to feel very welcome by our waitress, accomodating our request to sit in a quiet part of the restaurant. The waitress was on hand whenever we needed her without us ever feeling crowded or rushed when we needed more time. I know other reviewers had problems with staff knowledge (being a new restaurant) but this was the opposite of our experience. Admittedly we didn't have many questions but our waitress was able to answer them all.
We originally settled for a cold meze platter to start, and the waitress was happy to put that order through whilst we pondered the extensive menu to choose mains. Everything provided was tasty, and importantly also tasted lovely and fresh. My only minor complaint would be the ratio of bread to other products, so we were still left with hummus etc after our bread had been consumed. Having said that, I didn't feel shortchanged and definitely had a sufficient amount to eat, so didn't even ask for more.
We upgraded to the sharing meal for 2-3. This gave us a large platter of various meats along with rice and bulgar for mains. Again, lovely food in a decent quantity. We had a bit left over at the end, though on a hungry day I imagine we could have finished it off. Everything was tasy, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of cooking - the meats were still juicy and tender and full of flavour. Again, only extremely minor complaint I had was when I asked for some chilli and was given a chilli and garlic dip, it could definitely have been stronger - was almost like a salsa but I like my spice and the meal as served was flavourful enough for this not to be a problem.
Having had a sufficient amount to eat, we didn't have deserts so I can't comment on those and I also didn't use bathroom facilities so also can't comment there.
The bill for starter and main platters, a bottle of wine and a soft drink came to £70 which I found to be very reasonable for the 3 of us. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming and food was delicious. I shall definitely be...
Read moreSaturday night birthday celebration with family was an evening we won't care to remember. Food portions were clearly affected by supply issues; meagre halloumi starters, in particular for the price charged, my sister-in-law's salmon steak with mashed potato and asparagus had a single piece of asparagus with mashed potato replaced by chips and the salmon straight out of the freezer judging by its flattened appearance. 3 of us asked for chips instead of the bulgar rice and salad to go with mixed grill and received three cubes of chicken, three cubes of chewy lamb and the chips portion was very ungenerous. On a positive note, the moules frites was a success for my wife. My niece wanted the children's tomato pasta which we had to chase because it had been forgotten and it had a curry smell when it arrived and was sent back for a large portion of chips. We ordered drinks as the starter plates were being cleared and when they had not arrived 40 minutes later (the time it took before the mains were brought out) I went to cancel them and was told they were on their way and could not be cancelled. To the credit of the staff they did cancel the bottle of wine and did offer us free desserts and a free drink. We were grateful for the offer but, unfortunately, it seems this restaurant had food and drink supply issues and we had nothing knocked off the bill. It was a disappointing experience and the bill total for 6 adults and two children totalling approximately £250. Sorry Marble, this was not good and we won't be...
Read moreWent to this new restaurant as night with friends. Its nice inside and we were seated in the corner with a round table which was lovely. Pro: Food is nice Nice atmosphere Lovely crockery/cutlery/glasses Nice decor. Excellent menu.
Cons: Staff don't know the menu, waitress didn't know if they had draught beer or if they had fever tree tonic. All staff should know the menu and drinks offered. 2 of us ordered the 7 hour slow cooked lamb to be told they didn't have it, should have been told when we sat down. Waitress asked someone else to pour wine as she wasn't sure how to do it? Plates weren't warm, food warm, not hot. Very slow service, arrived at 7.45pm and was served main at 9pm. Given 3 individual sweet treats when bill arrived but there was 4 of us. Tiling in toilets is pretty bad but the tiles are nice. No bin in ladies toilet. Husband went up to toilet and few staff just standing around on their phones. Plants aren't in pots, just plastic pots they come in. My friend had a seafood linguine and mussels were tiny, hardly anything in the shells.
Wanted to give constructive criticism and don't mean to sound harsh just honest. Obviously I would like a new local restaurant to do well and hope they succeed. Just a few things that you to be taken on board I think but wish them...
