This has been my regular go to on a monthly basis for years (normally twice a month) and am always highly recommending it online on local community groups. Yesterday however was a huge disappointment and unfortunately I won't be returning. They now restrict your time to a 90 minute sitting which is all well and good if you don't wait an hour for your meal to arrive like we did yesterday. After stating we would not be finished within 30 mins they did let us keep the table but they have also changed the menu and there is now only one thing on it I like (The burger). My friend is dairy intolerant and there were no dairy free dessert options for her and the service was absolutely terrible. Price increases also meant 2 mains, 2 coffees and 4 small mango juices were £60. Such a shame as my friends and I all loved this place 😔 EDIT: Most of the reply left by Frederick's below is totally untrue. In all the time I have been a customer I have never had a time limit on our table. Also it was exactly an hour for our food, I think it was actually the manager that showed us to our table and the same person that I pointed out the time on my watch to as he served our meals (tall guy in black and white). If the menu hasn't changed where has the fish finger sandwich gone? 2 of my friends favorite dishes have disappeared too. With an hour wait for food, personally I don't think it's acceptable to put a 90 min time restriction on customers. We used to like a few coffees and some cake after our meals and as stated, have never previously been asked to leave our table after 90 mins. Be interesting to see how many more customers you lose over waiting an hour for food, having 90 min time restrictions on the tables even at early 12.00 o'clock lunch sittings and apart from the burger, only fancy food on the very...
Read moreI’ve been coming here since it was a third of the size, lovely coffee, lovely food, however since the menu changed last year we’ve come here a lot less as there are very few breakfast options which don’t include an egg, which I cannot have for dietary reasons. You used to be able to have avocado on sourdough and sautéed mushrooms on sourdough with the OPTION to add an egg or bacon for £2, this option has now been taken away and the price has increased with an egg included and the staff are unwilling to swap it for something else. I don’t wish to pay for an egg I cannot eat due to an intolerance. It’s strange as on the veggie Dansk breakfast you can add a poached egg for £2.00 and for the eggs on toast options you can add streaky bacon for £2.00. There aren’t any sourdough toast options without an egg anymore. It’s a shame as I’ve been a regular customer for years and there wasn’t anything else on the menu I wanted, unfortunately we ended up cancelling the rest of our order and leaving as my husband didn’t want to sit there and eat if I wasn’t having anything and he doesn’t want to go back now. For the sake of swapping an egg for bacon, you’ve lost our custom, really...
Read moreI love this place and have been there many times. The service and food are always excellent. Whilst visiting recently, I read they were starting to do Sunday Lunches. First opportunity, I booked a table for 3, myself and two friends. They both ordered the Beef and I ordered the Lamb. To say my luch came up looking terribly presented with a megar meat portion is an understatement. I did not even have a slice of lamb, just some small off cuts. 2 small pieces of carrot, two small pieces of parsnip. 3 small potatoes and a yorkshire pudding. On speaking to the waitress who smirked when I said the plate looked dreadful, and portions very poor. She offered to get me an extra slice of meat!!! I am not a big eater and a pensioner, but the way it was served was extremely poor. They offered me another choice buy I declined, as my friends were already half way through there meal. My friends lunch was OK. The staff did not handle the situation well. I have been to their special evenings at Frederick's and have only ever raved about it. The price for the lunch and the quality need reviewing. It was expensive and of very...
