On my recent first trip to the UK from Texas, more specifically to Cardiff, I was taking in some of the awesome sites of city. After walking around a while, I started to feel a bit hungry. A friend messaged me and suggested a place to eat. He suggested “The Prince of Wales” on St. Mary St. I walked into the establishment and looked around and waited to be seated. That apparently doesn’t seem to be protocol here. I found a seat and waited for a server to come to my table. Once again, I don’t think that was protocol. The gentleman behind the bar asked me if I wanted to eat or just something to drink. I told him I wanted to eat and he handed me a menu. He asked if I was wanting something specific. I told him I wanted something welsh. I can get a steak anywhere. I want something I won’t easily find in Texas. He suggested a few things but he said he really loved the Lamb cawl. Boom! Sold! I’ll take it. He also suggested a Welsh Cider called Black Dragon. I like cider, so I’ll take one of those too. Oh my gosh that was so good. The barkeep and the waiter was so unbelievably nice and the food was awesome. I highly recommend this place. If I ever make it back to Cardiff, I am definitely returning.

Wetherspoons #115 visited. A large branch located in the centre of Cardiff, in the old Prince of Wales Theatre. The pub is based on two levels, with seating areas, bars and toilets located on each. A rather impressive branch in terms of architecture. Ordered a Vegetarian Breakfast and a pint of Glamorgan 1927 IPA. Unfortunately not the best pub I've been to in terms of beer range, with only three guest beers on. I've been to far smaller branches that have been able to offer up five/six guest beers on a regular basis. For a pub of this size, scale, and prestige, a better range could easily be offered. The drink arrived in good time, a few minutes after ordering. Food arriving around 40 minutes later (12 minutes quoted on App wait times), so very slow. Eventually I had to chase up on my order, as it took so long to arrive. Also observing my food to be sat under the hotplate by the dumbwaiters for over TEN minutes, before brought over. I've only rated one for service due to this. When the food finally arrived, was as expected - lukewarm and dried out. A nice branch to visit, however the service could be Improved somewhat.

A nice place with plenty of seating. The food though….. while I appreciate that this is considered a ‘fast casual’ restaurant I expected better food. We both had burgers, which were both overcooked (and they seemed to be heavily cooked on one side and very little on the other. A hilarious amount of lettuce (like two small strips) and a shout out to the chef for being able to slice the tomato so thin. I do like that most meals included a beverage in the price (alcoholic or non). The payment process was a pain. Apple Pay did not work (I am visiting Wales, so other peoples experience may be different. So I had to enter my credit card info, then enter a verification code sent from my bank, then enter my email address twice to complete the payment (oh, no option for a gratuity that I could tell). What ticks me off the most is the email address (which was mandatory). This is not for my benefit, it’s for yours. You need to prioritize customer convenience over your desire to send marketing emails to me. Do better.

Came in after a short day of shopping in town. We were both thirsty and passing, so thought calling in would be a good idea. To start with, the ordering app wasn't working, while not a problem, was a touch annoying. So went to the bar to order. The bartop was wet and sticky from spilt drinks and obviously hadn't been cleaned for a while. I ordered food and two drinks. Simple enough I thought, but a pint of soda and orange came back as a small glass of soda and orange. That also was not such a problem. Sat down and waited for food to arrive. The one order was short of an item, so alerted a waitress who said she would look into it. Several minutes passed. She wandered by a few times. Nothing... So went to the bar to mention it. They were fine admittedly, and said they could offer a dessert, even though we didn't really want one. But fair enough we thought and accepted. Pudding arrived. Warm chocolate brownie was stone cold, and the spoons still had the previous users lip marks all over it, along with some of their food. Highly embarrassed at having to go to the bar again, we didn't have much choice. A replacement spoon was brought to the table and practically thrown down in front of us. A little annoyed, as nine of the mistakes about which we complained were anything we could have been blamed for. A little sad, as a great day out was marred by the poor experience here. Not somewhere I would recommend. Staff seem to not care. The place is dirty, and food really not worth worrying about. If I could have rated a zero. For the first time ever, then I...

My partner and I visited the Prince of Wales wetherspoons on valentines day this year. The venue is nice and spacious, the toilets are also very nice compared to other local pubs. We only came for a few drinks and arrived around 6 o'clock as we had a meal booked elsewhere for 7:30. The venue was not that busy considering the occasion. However during this time I was able to buy one round of drinks at the bar after waiting for approximately twenty minutes. There was maybe twelve customers waiting yet the wait time was very high. There were five members of staff serving twelve customers. So in response to this queue time I thought best to order our next round through the app to avoid delays. The app told us the wait time would be one minute however after twenty seven minutes our order still had yet to arrive. I went to the bar to find my order on the bar out of the way not being delivered to our table. Upon asking about my order i was told "mate it's busy what do you want me to do about it".Unfortunately we only had five minutes to finish our drinks since we had to leave for our meal. Im not an expert on ar eork but an hour and a half for two drinks in a fairly quiet night seems a little crazy. Then staff were visibly angry and on edge throwing and smashing stuff on the floor in between orders. Overall a little disappointed...

I have been a regular customer from last 7 year and always had pleasant service. On May bank holiday we went as big group as usual to celebrate an event , we place two round and one went twice so was quick one and less gap between drinks but after three round we placed an online order since it was busy to save some time, A manager came and said we order too fast so let’s finish these one first and get back to counter to get the new ones, at the end we went to counter and one colleagues said yes at the start and later manager refused to serve drink. I believe we as a big group but without creating any issue we were refused to serve and security were called on it. Manager refused to listen and refuse to pass any of her details and asked to leave the premises, I believe were profile because of skin colour and no reason to refuse the drink since we didn’t make any scene and no trouble at all. She refused to give her detail as manager or staff. We were issued refund without any notice. I am living in Cardiff and this behaviour was very upsetting for diverse people. It needed up our weekend and had to leave us politely. Situation like this will definitely not a good sign for one of the big PUB in Wales, Cardiff as diverse city and being profile for color is not...
