Dear Tonight Josephine Cardiff Team, I am writing to raise a serious complaint regarding the treatment my group received at your venue on the evening of [insert date, e.g., August 30th, 2025]. Upon arrival, my male friend was refused entry on the grounds that his ID “looked fake.” The ID in question is a valid, government-issued form of identification, and no reasonable effort was made by your staff to verify its authenticity. Instead, your team attempted to confiscate the ID — something they have no legal authority to do. This approach was both unjustified and confrontational. We were also deeply concerned by the implication that his appearance — specifically that he is balding — was unfairly used to question the ID’s validity. Considering he was accompanied by four women and was the only male in the group, this felt like discriminatory treatment based on both appearance and gender. Adding to our concern is the fact that the agency club rep who was assisting us — and who presented as gay — was fired on the spot for simply trying to help de-escalate the situation. This rep was nothing but professional and supportive, and his removal felt both punitive and discriminatory. It is difficult to see how his dismissal could be justified, and it raises serious concerns about how Tonight Josephine treats both LGBTQ+ staff and guests. This experience left us feeling embarrassed, singled out, and excluded — which is entirely at odds with the inclusive, welcoming environment your venue claims to promote. I am requesting a formal response outlining: Your ID verification and entry policies; Why your staff attempted to confiscate a valid ID; An explanation of the treatment of our group and the club rep; What actions you will take to address this incident and prevent similar occurrences in the future. This situation reflects not just poor customer service, but potentially discriminatory behavior toward both guests and staff. I look forward to hearing from you as soon...

Read moreIf I could give 0 stars then I would. Booked a drinks table here for my 21st birthday for 14 women 7-9pm, all turned up at 6:45pm to queue and was told by the doorman we’re too early why don’t we pop into the bar opposite to get a drink while we wait… so we did, only to return back to tonight Josephine by 7pm to now be denied entry by the vile mannered doormen stating that one of the women I was with was ‘too drunk’ as he said she had ‘bounced off two walls’ whilst we was queuing which was totally not the case… he suggested she should ‘sober up’ and to go and get something to eat, so she did just to prove to him she was fine and so that she could come back and meet us inside. Just to then top it off, we’re getting I.D’d and the doorman now wants to pick another problem with another lady we were with stating her driving license is fake as he compares it to mine which is from 3 years before (2019) compared to my friend who had past her test only a few months ago… does he not know his job properly and that driving licenses have changed where the hologram is placed? His attitude was disgusting and he found pleasure in denying us entry with a smug look on his face! I can’t comment on the venue itself inside as we never got in there, but just by the first impressions from the doormen it’s been enough to put me off coming back here, and I would be reluctant to recommend anyone who’s thinking of coming to this venue anytime soon, unless they get new...
