Crown Inn — Restaurant in Charnwood

Arrived for food and drinks. Not even to be told when ordering drinks food wasn’t available until I went up a second time. Then went into the garden and they have a run down bar outside not manned. The garden in general is not kept tidy specially for young children. Some kind of glass door left on the side awaiting a law suit or worse serious injury. To make matters worse. No atmosphere been in the past and still to find the same. Whoever the brewery and owners are sort it out. This pub is suppose to be the best in Anstey and it’s a shame as they have an enclosed garden but honestly The atmosphere is dead and the staff not very helpful. Heard they have numerous live in managers and nothing ever changes. But they post on their menu often about new menus but then can’t serve food. I mean it’s a standard day and they have no one in but that speaks for itself. And at the prices they’re charging. About 5 years ago it use to be the in pub and decent god knows what has happened since. Staff don’t even want to be there by the looks of things and how they speak. Sorry I’ve had to leave this review but honestly the pub is not giving any kinda vibe but that it needs to be closed or a massive revamp. Different pubs just outside of Anstey giving everything and much worth visiting. Overall thought don’t bother spending money in this pub...

Disgraceful service, RUDE STAFF. 3 out of the 4 meals we had were passable, with 1 chicken Caesar "salad" being sent back because it wasn't exactly a salad, nor did it taste nice at all. The waitress was friendly enough and apologised, and we were offered a replacement, but politely refused and just asked that the salad was to be removed from the bill at the end. At this point we had spent £82 on food and drink. When it came to pay the bill at the end, the person who was serving us (Ben) argued the toss about taking the salad off the bill, saying it came exactly as described and that he didn't want to refund it. I challenged this and he all of a sudden became very defensive and started arguing with me, when we clearly stated 1 hour before we didn't like the salad and we didn't want to pay for it (nothing uncommon about this). At the end of the day, if they ask if the food is okay, and it is not, they can offer you a refund or replacement. We declined the replacement and asked for a refund. This is what was agreed. I have never known anyone so rude and defensive when being asked to take £9 off a bill of £82, when we clearly stated we wanted a refund on the so called salad. Disgraceful service from Ben, which ruined the night. Avoid this place if you want somewhere nice and...

I wonder if we came on a bad day as we were quite disappointed. We were served by two young staff who, whilst pleasant, were not professional or knowledgeable.. The pub was very cold and we all had to put our coats back on. On arrival we were told that there was 'no rice'. Later, two desserts were not available either.

My husband ordered the classic burger and asked for it lightly cooked. he was informed that it came ' however the chef cooked it'. In fact it came overcooked and dry. My husband mentioned this twice but was not offered a resolution. ( Also we had waited nearly an hour for our food to arrive).
