Honest and fair review as always.
Restaurant in general is clean, tidy and well decorated. Tables are nicely spread out and decorated in detail. Me and my wife both weren't impressed with the toilets though, no soap in centre unisex sink area, toilet paper and empty rolls on the floor in the men's, and both mirrors have a black tint so you cannot see your reflection properly?
The staff are excellent. Greeted as soon as we entered and given a table. Continuously asked us if we were OK. I like that. It's good hospitality. The blonde lady was especially kind my wife liked her.
The food. This one's a funny one for me. I'll be blunt and honest. The quality was there, but every portion we received was minimal. We visit Indian restaurants all across Leicester, its our favourite style of food. The flavour and quality was there, but getting served half of what we're used to from 90% of other restaurants is a kick in the teeth. The mixed tandoori sizzler was upsetting. There was one for £6 and another for just under £12. I had to ask the waiter if he'd accidentally gave us the £6 one, but he hadn't, it was just tiny. I'm used to ordering these and being wowwed. It was the same for the rice. Rice is a cheap food source, just give people a good portion. The Butter Chicken was again small. The chilli paneer was cut into tiny pieces so it appeared that there was lots, but it was half of the amount we are used to receiving, topped up with salad to bulk the plate up. This bothered me that much I don't think I'd like to return. Which is a shame as the quality is there, the staff are on the ball and the establishment is beautiful.

Read moreGurkha New Delhi has been our go-to spot for dining and takeaways, a place we've cherished for its remarkable culinary offerings. However, today's experience left us disheartened. Despite a minimal order for three mains, it took an unexpectedly lengthy 50 minutes for our food to arrive. Surprisingly, the restaurant was almost empty, with only one other table occupied by six individuals. This extended wait seemed disproportionate to the situation.
While the food itself remains a standout, the service was regrettably lacking. The delay in serving a simple order, especially considering the low customer volume, was a significant letdown. It's disheartening when such exceptional cuisine is overshadowed by poor service standards. The discrepancy between the quality of the food and the efficiency of the service was stark and quite disappointing.
Moreover, the condition of the facilities, particularly the state of the toilets, was distressing. The appalling hygiene standards in the restroom, with the floor covered in urine, greatly detracted from the overall dining experience. A restaurant of this caliber should maintain better cleanliness and hygiene throughout its premises.
In conclusion, while the food quality continues to excel, the management should address and improve upon the service efficiency and sanitation standards. Enhancing promptness, especially during low customer traffic, and ensuring impeccable hygiene across the restaurant, particularly the washrooms, would significantly elevate the overall dining experience...
Read moreOrdered a takeaway tonight which arrived in 25 minutes. Amazing delivery time! The food itself was amazing, one of the most flavourful butter chickens I have ever had! Quite spicy though nowhere near mild and was too spicy for my partner. However I really enjoyed it! Naan and rice were both hot and full of flavour!
Only downfall is the pickle tray, as the mango chutney is peppery instead of just clear/sweet, and the mint sauce needed a bit of sugar or a touch of something. Also the cucumber onion pickle tray is in a chutney which we personally prefer dry. However I can see why other people would enjoy the different touches!
Considering the above, we will 100% order from here again!!...
