It was the second time that we had gone to the Beacon Brasserie for an evening. This time with friends. Not as good as last time. It was quieter which for a Saturday night was strange with 2 tables for 4 vacant all evening. We arrived 30 mins early intending to have a drink at the bar awaiting the arrival of our friends. We were asked to go to our reserved dining table where they took the order for our drinks...both of us ordered G & T. Imagine my partners disgust when the drinks came with the tonic already poured into the drinks. She sent them back. Replacement drinks arrived with the tonic in the bottle separate with a flimsy excuse that bottles weren't allowed on the table and that everybody always poured the whole of the bottle into the glass. My partner corrected the member of staff. We ordered the food. They had run out of cod loin, so I had to reorder. My partners starter, calamari, arrived overcooked and burnt. That got sent back. The replacement arrived and that was equally overcooked but thankfully not burnt. The main courses were good. We ordered more drinks and a coffee but no desserts and were asked to leave the dining area as they were closing. OK but not great. We sat drinking in the lounge area until 10 45pm....the only people there and we felt that the staff just wanted us to leave so they could pack up. Well Beacon. Make your mind up. Are you a pub, restaurant or brasserie, I think you want to be all three. At the prices you charge for drinks, you are not a pub. I would have expected the building to be packed with people on a Saturday night but alas people appeared to have voted with their feet. Time...
Read moreWent here for Sunday dinner at 4pm, Upon arrival shown to table, sat there for 5mins before anyone gave us a menu (we were the only people sitting) we were then told only one of the trio of meats available. Gave us an alternative, food was actually amazing. Service was shocking. The girls working spent the hour we were there slagging other members of staff off. At one point they got the hoover out and started hoovering new deli area (we were still eating) dessert time, we ordered- 3 adult desserts, 2 kids ice cream, 10mins later, young waitress shouts 'where's these desserts?' Then told only 1 dessert out of 4 available, at that point we'd had enough, told them to bring kids ice cream but to forget adults.
It may have been an off night, cracking food but service was woeful, almost like they couldn't wait to get us out of the door even though we'd just spent ÂŁ90, myself, my wife and mother in law all decided it would be the first and last time we'll be...
Read moreHad a lovely meal here in September for my birthday and it was mid week . We Got a voucher for our wedding so booked for valentines , they forgot us! We had starters but mains took forever they eventually realised after a good hour of having starter and sorbet but we got extras from the chef and apology from manager with a 30% discount off our next meal so we booked again but this time it was even worse. Was shown to table and given menu 40 minutes later no service and they didnât even asked if we would like drinks never mind taking our order for the meal. It was a Saturday night but place wasnât that busy. Needless to say we got up and left and they didnât even noticed! Our date night ended up with a takeaway and a couple of bottles of wine from bargain booze and we had got both in 40 minutes and half the price! I donât usually leave bad reviews but to be forgot twice on 2 separate nights is just...
