The White Horse — Restaurant in Charnwood

There as part of a larger party though each ‘part’ of the group ordered own food. Ordered first (as we had a hungry 10-year-old). Not busy at all, our party probably made up 50% of those that attended that afternoon/evening. Waited an hour then rest of parties food came and ours did not. Once all of the food out, we asked where ours was and the female server said she would find out. She never returned to up date us so after a further 20 minutes we spoke to a male server (had long hair in a bun) who aggressively and dismissively stated ‘we are cooking it now aren’t we. We have jumped you to the front of the queue’ which is not only rude but incredibly inaccurate. A further 20 minutes later our luck-warm at best food did eventually arrive (no there was no ‘how was your meal/everything ok/sorry for the delay). During the excessive wait our child was understandably hungry waiting so long that we rustled up something for him to eat and the server with the man-bun complained 🤯. What were we meant to do let our now very hungry and upset child get more upset?! In total we must have spent £150 plus as a family (as a group considerably more) there and we were treated like garbage. We were never rude or impatient with the servers. Waiting nearly 2 hours for our food is patience personified. They want your money they do not want...

This pub have awful staff behind the bar. Today, my friend and I were not served according to time of arrival at the bar. Other people were served who came after us. This has now happened to me on several occasions. I am Asian, and I believe the staff were not serving me according to my time of arrival because (a) the staff generally are indifferent and have a poor attitude. This fact can be confirmed by numerous reviews if you scroll further down the reviews list (b) I was coloured and so the reluctance of the bar staff to serve me was heightened . When I approached both managers, they (1) refused to recognise my complaint (2) made out that they have never had these problems at the bar. Sadly, I can only conclude, that the whole team from managers down to bar staff have a poor attitude. On top of this, I would like to make the following additional points (a) the drinks are overpriced (b) do not buy the potato chips, as you will get a meagre handful of chips for £4 - this is such a rip off. In summary, BEWARE OF THIS PUB, as the services are short for the prices you are charged. The problems at this pub will never get resolved, as I doubt the owner ever reads these reviews, or they ever get the poor feedback from...

Save your money and eat somewhere else. Have been to this pub a few times before and the service has been a little mixed but the food has been quite consistent even though small portions. Went with family other day and some family ordered the cannelloni. The cannelloni came in an even more reduced size - this time it has been reduced by a third and they normally swap focaccia for chip - so it came with 5 chips yes 5!!! The sides of the cannelloni was watery so we asked why it was small and watery and where the rest of the chips were. The server did not know but gave us the rest of the chips and called the manager over who also didn’t know anything about the cannelloni and had to ask the kitchen who said nothing had changed and confirmed all food is cooked from frozen so we guessed that what caused water around the sides of the cannelloni. They offered to change the meal for us however we’d already waited half an hour (place was empty) and given limited vegetarian choices we just ate what we had ordered. Nice pub due to its location but would not recommend...
