Overpriced...charge 50p for soda water...what a rip off! I'm sorry whoever responded with the defence...here's a reality check. 1 charging 50p for soda water is bordering on illegal...it is illegal to charge for tap water...and all you are doing is adding bubbles to your tap water at the post mix head...( I used to work for Britvic) 2 you are the only pub in Chelmsford to specifically charge 50p for soda water...I am a recovering alcoholic I only ever drink soft drinks and I've been that way for close to 12 yrs. 3 not only was the soda 50p...the attitude of the server was in my opinion unnecessarily off hand....blondie is bar staff not in an episode of Towie...behave accordingly! 4 there appears to be a preferred type there...if u don't look it or dress it..you get "attitude"....and that attitude has come from multiple visits over time. 5 in conclusion 50p for soda water is not good value....it is bordering on illegal...show me the evidence of your sort called value cause it's lost on me..and I've done 40yrs sales, marketing and customer service management...I think I...

We had my sons christening here. We provided the decorations in which I dropped of the day before and the locker manager set it all up for me so once the church service was done we walked in and oh my she did a fab job!! It looked so beautiful the food layout was delicious so much variety the atmosphere where was. It was lovely that it was sectioned off from the main bit so we wasn’t bothering the locals to much. The bar staff where quick to serve and super friendly. The venue hire is FREE !!! We had to pay £50 deposit to secure the date and paid the rest on the day which was for the food per head which was around £9.50, I would definitely recommend this lovely little pub for any venue hire, There is a bit outside for children to play in unfortunately the slide had been broken so wasn’t much for the children to do apart from Climb up and down the climbing frame but this will soon be fixed. Really gone downhill to what is once was...when we arrived there were 10 odd older kids with seemingly no parents climbing all over the new play area (later found out one is the landlords son and the rest were his mates) swearing and screaming until another customer complained where they were then all moved inside the pub. Food took close to an hour for 4 sandwiches and 2 basic hot meals when there was next to noone there, we couldnt understand that. Then when we finally got our food the bread on the sandwiches was stale and worst still the one i had bought for my 1 year old had mould on it. All the food had that substandard look and taste of Asda value. Its a shame because its a nice looking pub in a great location with a lovely new play area for the kids but the rest is just crappy....
