Came here for the first time recently, didn’t know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. From walking in the door to taking your seat is quick and effortless.

The seating areas were smaller than I expected but this gives a more personal experience say compared to the cliffs. The seats are okay, nothing special and get a bit uncomfortable after a while (they did for me). The seats are a bit close together which can be a bit of an issue if you have a big person sitting next to you (I did).

What really let this place down was the bar service (more so in the interval) there isn’t enough bar staff to manage the demand and the bar staff that were there didn’t show any urgency despite the stampede in front of them. Some people missed the start of the second half because of this and to top it off one of the barrels needed changing so off went one of the bar staff for 5 minutes making it even worse.

I would come back again but the venue needs to address the bar staff efficiency, some people decided not to bother with drinks in the end resulting in reduced revenue for...

Good theatre, lots of good shows coming up along with comedy stand up shows (just seen Russell Kane - superb).

The car park is close by, with disabled spaces available and outside theatre also. Plenty of restaurants/pub close by for pre theatre meal and drinks. Theatre is literally next to train station and bus station so good options to car travel.

Theatre seats are comfortable and accommodate plump bottoms but legroom bit squashed for long legged persons!

Quite an intimate venue but good view from majority of seats.

Follow the road signs for the theatre when you get close. With the one way system, can be confusing in first visit as you literally go back on yourself!

You will have to be patient on leaving car park, as small exit for...

Romeo and juliet, modern retelling, abridged, really good, we started outside for the start and were walked inside for the rest, Juliet stood out as the talent on the stage but the rest did a good job as well. Seats were ample for a wider bum and comfortable, the temperature inside was fine even though we're going through a heat wave, the toilets are upstairs though due to disability rules I am sure there's one downstairs somewhere, I didn't look for it, snacks and ice cream were available from the foyer and not terribly over priced, bar prices again only slightly above normal, we booked tickets online and picked them up from the box office inside with no problems at all, the staff were helpful and friendly, we had a...

I have been visiting the Civic Theatre for many years as a local resident, many tribute nights and comedy leaving a mark on my memory. This is my first visit after their refurbishment. A dramatic improvement of decor & exterior fittings make this feel a much classier venue. Contrasting colours and better fixtures bring this theatre into the 21st Century. Seating is standard folding theatre fare with armrests, no discomfort after leaving from a fun packed show. The toilets are the biggest improvement and they're to be commended on the finished product.

This was our 1st visit to this theatre and I must say it was a pleasant visit. We came to see the Cinderella pantomine which was thoroughly enjoyed by our group of 6. The cast were very entertaining and brilliant at what they obviously love to do. I highly recommend going to see. The theatre is a lovely size not too big which I find more appealing, it's rather cosy. I was very disappointed when the lights went on to see so much rubbish chucked on the floor, there is no excuse for this!! there was a member of staff walking around with a bin bag!!

Had a brilliant time at Chelmsford Civic theatre seeing My Fair Lady. Brilliant performances by all involved. We had great seats in the stalls, the view from anywhere in the theatre would be great! We have been to many productions here and sat in multiple different places and they all have a great view. I have a group of 'golden girls' that I take out as often as I can, we were minus our wheelchair user this time but the accessibility for that is brilliant! From past experiences.. We all had a brilliant time xx
