A friend and I decided to give the new Mickey D's at the big Tesco Superstore a try on walk-in take-out a couple of weeks ago. It was late, after 10 pm, a few diners eating in ahead of us, a couple of cars in the drive-thru. Couldn't believe the wait. Earlier this week, I was nearby and, as it's Monopoly time of year, I thought, hey, give them another chance. Not only was there a long wait, but the bag contained no BBQ sauce (ordered via the screen kiosk.) Yesterday, stopped at the Tesco for petrol and thought, okay...Maybe 3rd time lucky? This time I used the drive-thru, thinking perhaps the wait till take-out from the counter was due to restaurant priority to move the drive-thru orders. Well, sadly, that does not appear to be the case. Not only was there such a long wait that I was wondering whether staff had ventured out to kill a cow for my burger, again no BBQ sauce despite being asked which two flavours I'd like by a server via the drive-thru speaker. There were no napkins in the bag and the shake cup was so overfilled that the lid started pushing itself away from the cup. Fortunately, preventing banana shake explosion in my car took my mind off the wait somewhat, however I still had time to consider how this would have impacted if I had simply been handed the shake and driven away, rather than having time and hands free to insert the straw and valient attempt to rescue product oozing out the top of the lid. The food was reasonable (my first try of the signature Spicy burger....but I still prefer my tried and true Quarter Pounder with cheese. I wasn't impressed with the Big Tasty earlier in the week...I suggest it be renamed to the Big Slimy to better describe the combination of too much secret sauce slathered between slippery salad ingredients causing the whole, huge saucer sized slice of meat patty to slide slowly off the bread. I've eaten at many McDonald's over the last 50 years and I have to say, despite my excitement at Bicester opening two locations this year, I'm sadly not impressed by either this one or the one further outside town on the A43. McDonald's has a formula for prep and service. There seemed to be a lot of staff in the kitchen and not much food coming out, so my guess is there needs to some tweaking of the formula in Bicester. The key word in "fast food" is fast. Work on...
Read moreIf I could give them 0 stars I would. I went into McDonald’s this evening and spent over £45 on a meal for my family. When I arrived home I noticed that they hadn’t included the chicken nuggets. I normally wouldn’t bother going back but this is actually the third error they’ve made this month. Twice previously I ordered normal nuggets to get home to find spicy nuggets in the box. The first time we were also told by the girl at the servicing bay that there was no sauce and no milkshakes - we thought we’d double check at the last bay because it seemed unusual to have no sauce and the guy at the last bay told us that his colleague was lying. So my husband went back to McDonald’s to get the nuggets - he had mistakenly left the receipt at home with the rest of our meal but had proof of payment on his phone and he could have told them our order for them to find the receipt on their till. He went into McDonald’s and explained they’d left the nuggets out of the meal to be told without a receipt they wouldn’t give him the order - while I do understand that he showed them the Barclays transaction (which by this point showed 30 minutes ago) and said why would someone drive back for nuggets if they hadn’t paid. He was then told a manager would deal with it to still be stood their 15 minutes later. He happened to ask another member of staff who then promptly got the manager. The manager was rude and refused to give the nuggets - he could tell my husband wasn’t willing to give up (why should he when they’d already messed twice before) - he then reluctantly handed him over the nuggets. We have consistently had poor service and we are regular customers who spend a lot of money in there. Because of the staff we will no longer be...
Read moreI don't normally feel the need to rate or review a McDonald's as you take the rough with the smooth but this was a very poor experience. Somehow they managed to make the fries taste nothing like fries or potato and they were served pretty cold. I can understand why several people were complaining about delivery orders arriving and the food being stone cold. If the fries were cold before being sent out for delivery, they won't warm up along the way. My burger was poorly assembled and three tiny cubes of onion wasn't exactly what you'd expect from a 'portion', and the patties were very dry. The milkshake was so aerated that it felt like there was nothing in the cup and when taking a drink through the straw, it didn't really feel like a drink at all. Quite impressive how that feat was managed to be fair but its not what you want from a drink... the person who 'served' me was already heading back into the kitchen before putting my tray down and I had to call out to them for some sauce, but the excuses being given to the poor customers who had received cold deliveries was something else (especially given they had waited nearly 2 hours for their orders to arrive).
On top of the above (or more accurately below the above), the trays we had our meal served on were very dirty.
In a nutshell, avoid this McDonald's if you can. Certainly if I lived in Bisceter I'd be going to an out of...
