The Pig & Pump — Restaurant in Chesterfield

First time at the Pig and Pump. Booked a table as read it gets very busy. It was quiet when we arrived. The staff are very friendly and polite. My daughter and son in law ordered the nacho sharing board. Plenty of food for a starter for 2. We then ordered our burgers on the sharing board. We chose the Elvis. Unfortunately my daughter and I found them abit dry due to the peanut sauce. We should of known as peanut butter is dry, so our fault. Chips were lovely just like you would cook at home. Plenty of food for 2 on the board. As it was my birthday I was the only one to order a dessert. Apple crumble with ice cream. I did expect a deep apple crumble with plenty of apple. As the portions are plentiful but I was disappointed at the size. Very small. I think I just had the crumble no apple. £7 was abit steep. So would give dessert a miss. I didn't like to complain as my birthday and manager was very nice. Would love to go again and...

Staff were exceptionally lovely and checked on us once we had finished our meal. It was a very hot day and considering the conditions they had to work in (heat!!) they were very polite and professional. I had the hot honey halloumi wrap with skinny fries, it was amazing and I would definitely visit and eat there again. Food was also very affordable in my opinion, for my food and a pint of pepsi max it came to £16.

The pub/restaurant itself was quite warm and would benefit from Aircon to make customers more comfortable in the warmer weather. I think because of the warmth it seems more loud and overwhelming inside than it perhaps was.

Bathrooms could also do with some updating as there was only one...

Relaxed and friendly, clean, and staff team go above and beyond to make sure all is OK.

Would have given 5 stars for food but the calamari isn't just rings... there are tiny octopus in batter too...just too cute to eat... and the potato bravas, is kinda smoky and very sweet...does not really work...however good choice of burgers and home made pepper and caramelised onion quiche was lovely.

Really dog friendly too !

PS what a sight ...Motorbike members sat cheerfully next to families and business dressed folk, and them all roaring off in sync..obviously the Seven Hills and Mongols ...the other folks just looked on...
