Drift-In Surf Cafe — Restaurant in Chichester

Was very disappointed with the service. We did as the sign said, wait to be seated. Despite a particular waitress seeing us we stood there for a good few minutes before she even approached us. When she did , We sat down and watched others arrive after us and disappointed to see this same waitress spoke and served these people (2 separate parties) before us.

Despite this we didn’t say anything and sat waiting patiently. I have to say it was only this one waitress who appeared rude and when she took our order even laughed at us.

This is a real shame as the cafe was a lovely little place and the coffee was lovely but due to the rude attitude of this particular waitress (dark hair and glasses) I will never be visiting here again and sadly would not recommend. We pop down to Wittering every year for the day & always come to Drift-In Surf Cafe. The place is always great - welcomed with a friendly smile, fab service & amazing food & drink! We nipped in today and it was no different. We had our 6 month old son with us & asked for a takeaway cup of hot water to make a bottle for him, as well as our usual food & drink order. The water came instantly, followed shortly be our AMAZING hash & wild mushroom dishes. That’s the difference - our server knew we had a need & sorted it straight away! Above & beyond & attentive. We didn’t catch her name - sorry! She was a brunette lady who was showing people to tables & serving.

At 14.55 on a Sunday we entered and asked if they did take away, we were told they did and shown a menu. Five minutes later at 15.00 we went to place an order only to be told bluntly that they had stopped making food as they close at 16.00. The attitude is why we're writing this review. Why not mention the fact that they are stopping serving food when we asked for a menu rather than allow us to decide what we want and then refuse to take the order. If our order was way past 15.00 fair enough but the fact that we were placing it on the cut off point a bit of flexibility would have gone a long way.
