I don't know if yesterday was an off day for this coffee shop, but as visitors to Midhurst, I have to say, it wasn't great. On walking in, we were not greeted, even though there were 3 female and 1 male member of staff behind a small counter. We had to ask 'do we wait or can we sit down'. Before we had even sat, a waitress came over with drinks, obviously not ours. We had to ask for menu, and it was the breakfast menu we were given, then they replaced with the lunch menu. I received my food, a tuna melt quickly, and presentation was lovely it was a nice sandwich, however my friend and I waited far too long for his simple prawn sandwich, my melt was getting cold. When it did arrive it was very good. Customer service was severely lacking yesterday, waitress kept getting wrong tables, she tried 3 tables before getting the right one at one point and it wasn't that busy! one customer stood at the front counter for far too long, waiting for I don't know, but should have been asked to take a seat and a member of staff wil be over. A baby one member of staff didn't put down the whole time we were there, behind counter with baby in arms constantly, we literally had to help ourselves to further cutlery, not one of the staff were attending to customers, we felt like an interruption to their social life, chatting, phones, baby. If I'm wrong tell me, but if you run a business, customers are the most important to the business. Please don't make people feel as though you are doing them a favour. It wasn't a pleasant experience at all. When the lady who waited at the counter for ages, first came in, she asked if dogs were allowed as two people outside had dog's, two, I think. I heard the lady holding the baby say to her, ' oh yes we live dogs here, it's customers we don't ' she then said' oh it's only a joke, however I heard that comment and I was a customer.... I really don't think it was a joke, I think that is how they...
Read moreHave been to Fitzcanes many times since it's opened and at first, the food and service was good, my last few visits however, have been poor. The service has been lazy, and I ate possibly the worst scrambled egg and toast I think I've ever had, over cooked eggs and stale toast. I've been a few times since the first lockdown and haven't been impressed with their handling of the Pandemic. We've been served by staff who were not wearing masks and at one point the server leaned in so close that my mum and dad had to say something to them. We did write a complaint email to management about the lack of masks and were told that some of their staff are exempt and that they would have been wearing cards to explain this. Sadly the unmasked people who served us wore no cards visible (we made a point to look for them at the time). Sadly, due to the last few times I've been, I won't be returning again. I love supporting local businesses and am an avid local high street shopper, however, I have been to better cafes in the area that provide better food and that I feel safer in during...
Read moreCame here today with my husband and 2 year old daughter. Very friendly staff with a bubbly atmosphere and great vibe, fairly modern yet somehow in keeping with the rest of the town. Had a breakfast bap which was surprisingly tasty, my daughter had a sausage bap which she devoured most of, she is now eating the leftovers with dinner. Husband really enjoyed his hot dog "I'm just sad cause its gone" was his comment. Great selection of drinks and interesting merchandise around too.
Only pointers would be a request for a bug zapper to deal with some of the pesky wasps, and as there was a one way system in place we wanted to go back to the window for a cake and ice cream after, however the outside tables were all in front of most of the small printed menus and people were sat there so we decided against it as it was all a bit much for us, we couldn't even see what cakes there were.
Would still highly reccomend and will go again. Right next to the...
